Guest guest
Darin: For a long time I couldn't decide which " rebirthday " to celebrate and finally concluded, " Why not do both? " If the first tx hadn't failed, I wouldn't have been listed as a Status 1 and in line to get what turned out to be an excellent liver. All I know is that the second donor was considerably younger than the first. I've sent identical correspondence to both donor families, and I'm sure that with this being U.S. Memorial Day weekend it's a difficult time. Although a Canadian by birth (London, Ontario) and having lived in Vancouver from 1974-1980, most of my life has been spent in the KC area. I don't think you're allowed to live around here long unless you can barbeque KC-style--or at least appreciate it. In fact, a few weeks when Kansas Univ. (about 40 miles west of the Mo./Ks. state line) basketball coach Roy decided to return to his native North Carolina, people got just as upset about his statement that he'd always preferred Carolina bbq to KC's as the fact he was switching jobs. Now I'm sure that East-coast bbq is OK (and I understand you folks in Texas have been known to do a little yourselves), the one thing you don't slander is the bbq. That brisket has been slow cooking all day, and I may not even wait for the in-laws to start showing up.
