Guest guest Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 , Let me make two suggestions. They worked for me, they may work for you. First, start a log of the food that you eat and your blood sugar readings and insulin dosage. I keep mine in Excel. I use the following headings: date, meal, food eaten, blood sugar reading, insulin dosage, restaurant, and comments. On page two I keep the following columns: cook, food, carb value, insulin required for that item, and comments. This log will give you the historical data that you need in order to track your progress and determine what insulin to take for a proposed meal. The second suggestion is this. I eat the same food for breakfast every day. I also eat the same lunch every day Monday through Friday. This allows me to determine the amount of insulin needed and have the correct reading going into dinner - my one variable meal. Try it. I'm really trying hard to keep them below 120, but can't seem to >> make that happen.
