Guest guest Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 It was interesting to read all of the comments that you have regarding no-shows and cancels. Our revenue has dropped tremendously and I did a spreadsheet for the last 3 months and found that we had a 20% decrease in patients based on no-shows and cancels alone. That was a $10,000 decrease per month. The decrease in numbers means nothing without the $$ equivalent total. Does anyone have an opinion regarding the following plan that I would like to present to our owner? I was thinking of offering our staff $100 each, at the end of each month (we have 8 staff members total, at three locations, which would total $800) if we have a 10% decrease or less in patient cancels and/or no-shows. Certainly some cancels cannot be avoided and are beyond their control, therefore the 10% allowance. However, if there is an 11% decrease or more (remember we are experiencing a 20% decrease per month) then they would get nothing. An $800 payout is a lot better than a $10,000 decrease. I feel that they are relieved when a patient cancels because that is less work for them. Less therapy for the therapist and techs, less billing for the office, less collecting for our collection dept. So, there is no incentive for them to get the patients in. Also, how do you feel about enforcing a $25 charge when a patient cancels or no-shows less than 24 hours from their appt. time? We have billed some patients but they have not paid.
