Guest guest Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 , I'm currently using California based Raintree Systems software (www.raintreeinc.com/) as an ASP application and EDI Gateway as a clearinghouse. We're a 2 therapist practice with 2 locations. This software is expandable and the ASP application allows for a minimal start-up investment. I hope that helps! Guest guest Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 ; I run a billing service and have seen a few billing software packages. The two best packages I have run across are Raintree and Clinicient. Both have the ability to offer you medical record packages. In terms of clearinghouses, I would encourage you to look at Gateway EDI. If you would like to talk directly with me ( & I promise I will not discuss my billing service unless you ask), please feel free to call. Guest guest Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 There is a new software program being released that has been in the works for a few of years with significant input from APTA. It is supposed to consist of billing, documentation, evidenced based database, etc. I know it is going to be on exhibit at the CSM in San Diego next month. You might want to give a look. Here is the announcement website. http://cedaron.com/cedaron/ PR_01_23_2004.htm You will also see their ad in the PT Magazine. I'm curious to get feedback on this program. Dennis M. Guest guest Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I have used a program called MedBill Pro for over 5 years now and really like it. Very well designed, windows based, and user friendly. They provide initial training by an actual practice manager of PT clinics that use the program everyday. Guest guest Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 Dennis. I looked into this before it was out early last year. It looks good, but very expensive. I believe I was told by thecedaron rep it was going to br around $4,000 per year for the first user and the price went down for each additional user. Good system, but very expensive, which seems to be the APTA way. I have been a member for over ten years of the APTA and it seems they have good programs for members, but there is always a big price tag. Guest guest Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 I wouldn't necessarily count on the price going down. I'm a bit suspicious of APTA offerings ever since I switched disability policies to one endorsed by the APTA because of a less expensive price than the policy I had. It was .... for a while. Then, despite initial information that the price would be fixed for the life of the policy, they raised the price ... substantially. Just be careful. Re: Billing software Dennis. With apologies to Chad (I am not singling you out, just taking a thread that seems to be common in the therapy industry and expanding on it): To all that are looking into purchasing software-this comment seems to be a common one. A common consumer comment is that you get what you pay for. I do not use this product and am not familiar with it. However, I have spent years in the therapy billing field and continue to be amazed at the thought processes that go into choosing billing, software, medical record and collection software. Considering that your professional livelihood is at stake, I think you should be prepared to invest what it takes to be successful. Did you get an internet diploma for $300 so that you could practice Physical Therapy? Not likely! You invested years of work, study and continue to do so post graduation. Is there anything that leads therapists to believe that billing requires any less dedication and effort? Okay, off my soapbox, Jim Hall, CPA Rehab Management Services, LLC Cedar Rapids, IA 319/892-0142 Quote
