Guest guest
Sophie got this nice little virus on Monday night; got it on Thursday; Robbie early Friday morning, me on Saturday morning and Putter early this morning. It's a-moving through the family. Enrique, so far, so good, perhaps due to his insane anxieties about germs? It consists of an unbelievably awful headache and slight stomach upset plus a fairly high fever (Sophie, 102; , 103; Robbie, 102; me NONE! but I felt achey as if I had a high fever; and Putter's is unknown because he fought me so hard that I gave up when it went to 99.5) The good news is that it only lasts around 24-48 hours; I feel much much better today. Putter, however, obviously feels terrible as he is lying limp and motionless on the living room couch. He tried to play on the computer and kept falling asleep on the chair so finally he gave up and went to lie down on the couch. When the fever hit him last night, he sat up in bed (fevers have an odd effect on Putter which I think is a fairly typical neurological oddity of autism) and he pretty much recited everything that he knew while giggling and taking large drinks of water. He knows quite a lot and I found myself unable to sleep while this was going on (about 3:30 to about 4:40 or perhaps later) so I found it a bit tiresome. Also I had to keep refilling his water glass. But I am sure it was good for him to drink so much. Putter does not do tylenol or any other fever reducer without a big battle and he does not complain either so, rather than fight my limp and ill child (who would cease to be limp the second I attempted to medicate him) I am allowing him to sleep feverishly on the couch.
