Guest guest
Hi, Here in Brazil, we often buy “fresh” meat, I mean no processed meat. Lean meats are not expensive over here, so we eat rump beef and even our ground beef is very “light”. Same is true for chicken. Brazilians who can (afford) eating, they really eat!!! (lol) We have these barbecue restaurants, plenty of meat roasted on the spit. Waiters keep walking around tables with spits full of roasted meat and customers have a sign on the tables. If you turn it to green, waiters serve you, turn it to red and you’re done. I live in São o and this is a gourmet city. One can eat whatever kind of food, Italian, Japanese, Arabian, French… and we have a nice range of $$$ among these places. Have you ever visit Brazil? Vegetables and all kind of fruits are available here in very affordable prices. Problem is, modern life change us all in speedy people, so we squeeze fruits, instead of tastefully chew them, and we eat to many fast and fat food… I guess we are trying to recovery some good old habits, like eating whole grains, vegetables, salads, fruits, brown rice. It’s like vintage food! ;-) I am in a Brazilian SBD list, and sad to see people is looking fast weight loss, instead of really learn how to eat healthily. These are “fat” thoughts. Over here, we say one has to lose weight of one’s mind, and fat mind is so hard to change… I say in that list they stand too long in P-1 and I do not agree with this, because one can not maintain a diet like P-1 forever. No wonder people gain all weight back so quickly. Does any of you know somebody who has SDB diet and could keep weight? I am looking for a lifetime diet. I do not want regain any pound. A diet that I am capable to do all my life – is this SBD? I am really glad to share this virtual space with you. Renata PS: are beans allowed in P1? PS2: I am thrilled I can eat homus! I think they mean the preprocessed, unnaturally created stuff. That is to say, the stuff you buy in a package like deli meat frequently is just various (cheap) parts of chicken, mixed with heaven knows what, pressed together to look like a slice of chicken. I try to get real chicken breast, even if it is prepackaged (which I do occasionally use to throw in salads, etc.) Read the ingredients. You can tell if you're eating chicken or a chicken byproduct pressed together mix. > What is considered a processed poultry? Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats.
