Stacey G.,

Congratulations! I am praying that all goes well for you, and you won't have

much to worry about.

I know that in NC, and I assume all states, that it would be illegal to fire

you bc of it. It would fall under discrimination. You're pregnant, not a

psycho. And bedrest is a medical situation, which you also cannot be fired

for. If your new boss gets all huffy about it, work as long as you can, then

quit. That's not really the kind of person you would want to work for

anyway, is it? Do you have any acquaintances that work there. Maybe you can

find out from them what he's like, leaving you better prepared how to tell

him.

Amy,

Thanks. I have been told that my new professor is an extremely kind and

understanding woman. I don't think I'll have a problem telling her I'm

pregnant, but I will wait until I am past the first 3 months. I do feel a

little guilty though, she was looking for stability. How much stability can

I give her while I am in a high risk pregnancy? But, after the pregnancy I'm

sure I can give her all the stability she needs. I have been told it is

illegal to fire anyone for pregnancy. I was told that the probation period

at the University is 6 months. I just hope I can make it the six months

before being put on bedrest. We'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for your help.
