Guest guest
Everyone is different, but I like to limit it to one grain and one, maybe two fruit a day. That's not written in stone, though. I am lucky (if you can call it that) that I have the advantage of testing my blood sugar to see how I am doing. I'll know immediately if I've overdone it and need to cut back. in Atlanta ----- Original Message ----- From: maryshann@... Hi! For those of you who have been on phase 2 for awhile, I am curious... is there a typical number of servings of "starches" that you seem tousually eat per day? Say oatmeal once and then a whole wheat bread andthen??? Do you normally do none, one, two? I'm sure you don't do the 6- 11 that the food pyramid recommends, even if they are whole grain lowGI. Or do you? Thanks! C
Guest guest
---I think I have to agree with you on this because since I've been able to put back some fruit and grain, I am finding that I want to eat more fruit than I should..a)because its sooo good and it helps with the " back up " problem(constipation) and c) alot of fruits are coming into season and are plentiful again. I was doing well getting out of the a.m. habit of 2 piece of toast for breakfast when I couldn't have any toast. Now I wake up and want that again. I guess its a question of balance but geez some days its hard not to fall back into the old pattern!! And the testing of the blood sugar is an excellent guide. When I " poke " and I am on the high side, I know I've had either too much fruit or two much grain(complex carbs) and it is time to watch it!!! For lunch I have a salad, no starches. For dinner I usually have no starches, but sometimes I'll have some rice or pasta if I haven't had any yet that day. I think I'm ready to go to Phase 1.75 - two starches a day, spread out a couple days a week. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@...
