It's actually 15 Almonds that you're allowed, and it's because

almonds are bigger. Remember this is about eating good fats, good

carbs, good protein, this isn't a low carb diet, it's about eating

whole foods. Hope this helps ;o)

I believe it has been updated to 1/4 cup each. BTW, 1 almond is bigger

than 1 pistachio so maybe that's why you were allowed more pistachios.

It also has to do with their glycemic index.

FYI, this is what the SBD site says...

NUTS AND SEEDS (Limit to one serving per day as specified)

Almonds - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)

Brazil Nuts - 4

Cashews - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)

Flax Seed - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Macadamia - 8 (Dry roasted recommended)

Peanut Butter, Natural = 2 TBS

Peanuts, 20 small (May use dry roasted or boiled)

Pecans - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)

Pine Nuts (Pignolia) - 1 ounce

Pistachios - 30 (Dry roasted recommended)

Pumpkin Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Sesame Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Sunflower Seeds - 3 TBS (1 oz)

Walnuts - 15 (Dry roasted recommended)

You can have 15 almonds. You can have more pistachios because they are smaller!
