My DW told me tonight that she's been feeling quite blah about food

for last week or so - mostly just eating to have it done. Don't get

me wrong, she likes the dishes I've been making and there's nothing

wrong with her taste buds. It's just that she can't get up much

interest in eating. Now she's been stable for a bit and under a lot

of personal stress (most of which is situational and resolved). She

asked me to post this in hopes that someone might have a) a

suggestion or B) went through something like this herself. She was

wondering if she needs to be " naughty " and have something like fish

and chips or pizza or KFC or ... but she can't even get interested in

that and said she'd probably not even finish it. We've been SBDing

since Feb 16th.

BTW - we've had occasion about once a week to " suspend " the diet -

had a small slice of birthday cake one week or had a very small bowl

of SF (but not FF) ice cream another.

- who FINALLY lost 2lb - now 148.

Maybe take your favorite recipes and just make them South Beach

friendly? That's what we do. I'm amazed that with just a little

substitution here and there, it tastes the same! Plus, Hubby (who

has very little weight to lose) cheats and eats his favorite things.

Give her a baked potato? Make her Cashew Chicken? Just a thought.

Yep I think the answer to the dilema is being " naughty " so both of

you get naughty. Oh and eat something " naughty " too. LOL!!

I get like this sometimes, too. Being the chief cook and bottle washer, when

I don't feel like eating, I don't feel like cooking, and the family gets

some pretty wierd dinners. And late ones, at that!

What I've done is asked myself the question, " If I could go out to eat

tonight, where would I go and what would I order? " I usually can come up

with at least a good dinner, and it usually gets me out of the food dumps.

My favorite is from a steak house in LeMars, Iowa, and we have steak and

sides similar to what Archie's Steak House serves every couple of months.

Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats.
