She started losing her hair around her crown, which is not where she always lays on her head. I know some have said they are also using it. Did you see any increase in constipation or seizures? And how long until you saw any results as in hair regrowth? , 20 mcg is a very minimal dose...Bry takes 50 twice a day....plus what is in his multi. the recommended adult dose is 100-200!!! What else are you giving her??? I dont really like the idea of these docs/dietitians recommending targeted nutrients...usually these are given without the other key nutrients. Most nutrients work synergistically with other nutrients. selenium is a very powerful antioxidant...and should be taken with adequate amounts of C and e also on board. Other things to consider for hair loss are the trace minerals (a very good addition to the diet is trace mineral research drops http://www.traceminerals.com/products/drops.html ) B vits and essential fatty acids like the addition of flaxseed oil. but again...I would start by building a good foundation...what multi are you using?? cya Barb....bryans mom
Guest guest
I am using 3 gm (one) brazil nut per day as per suggestion on the list. My normal computer is off-line so I don't know how much selenium that gives. I give it ground up and calculate it in. We also had hair loss that stopped after we switched to WholeLife vitamins and minerals supplement. Guest guest
You can safely take up to 400 mcg per day.... taking more than 600 per day is toxic... It's a mineral that is used by the body for, among other things, converting T4 to T3. I happen to break up my doses into four per day. I have a small amount that comes in my Multi and then take an additional 400. If you are taking both selenium and Vitamin C at the same time, you have to take them with food.... It happens that even though vitamin C boosts the absorption of just about anything else that we take into our bodies... it will bind with selenium if they are taken on an empty stomach.. But, since vitamins are always best taken with meals anyway it's not really much of a problem. Guest guest
Hi Carol, I usually eat around 4 or 5 Brazilian nuts a day for a snack. They are high in Selenium and of course are in the natural form this way. Gossimer > Hi - for everyone who takes this as a supplement, how much do you all take > per day?
