Hi Sylvia!

Welcome to the group! In regard to your lifespan question, in general,

it's my understanding that with the right treatment, you will more than

likely die of something other than thyca. I had my TT back in 1990, and

I'm still here! However, I'm definately not the longest survivor in this

group - there's at least a few going back twenty if not more years!!!

Hi Sylvia;

typically thyroid cancer doesn't really affect lifespan. There are

folks on this list who were diagnosed 20 or 30 years ago.. (OK folks,

jump in here)

Welcome and congrats on the wt loss.

Hugs,

Hello

Hello WLS group. My name is and I live in Ohio. I had surgery

just a month ago on June 5th. So far so good. I have lost 50lbs

and haven't had any major side affects up to this point. I'm still

adjusting of course and I'm sure many of you could give me lots of

advice for the road ahead. I had lots of problems pre-op with the

doctor's office dropping the ball on procedures I was supposed to

have. I almost didn't get to have surgery on the day it was

scheduled. I <being nice now> was quite upset and being the

straight forward go get em kind of guy I said a few choice words and

screamed my way onto the operating table. I have done ok since then

though and don't regret anything so far. I am looking forward to

reading everyones succsesses and maybe I can help someone too.

Take Care,

Welcome Tami in VA.

We have a Joan in VA who has had the SX. She will probably

answer you here if she sees your post. Hi Joan.

Tami, please request an angel here on the boards. They are

wonderful. You can use that kind of support.

Hugs and Prayers,

Welcome Tami. The time will fly and it'll be here. Try and get your house in

order, all your post-op foods purchased including protein drinks and vitamin

supplements. Then after surgery, you can just concentrate on feeling better.

I wish I could drive too Joan.. but I am only getting to spend a short

weekend with my daughter and really dont want to spend 12 hours driving

Friday and 12 hours driving Monday.. would rather have the time to spend with

her.. I havent really seen her since Christmas and was so ill at that time, I

dont really remember too much about her visit.. Maybe the next time I visit,

I can drive and we can spend some time together..

Take care
