Guest guest
I thought the calories sounded a bit high too. Jake is 6 and around 43-44 inches tall, and weighs about the same (43-44lbs) - and he's on 1200 calories a day. Just a comparison. Guest guest
Jill, My bottle of MOM says for a laxative the adult dose is 2 to 4 tablespoons, for an antacid the adult dose is 1 to 3 teaspoons. So yes it does affect BM's, but for an antacid you only need a quarter of what you need for constipation. For a child, you might only need 1/2 teaspoon with a bit of water as an effective antacid. Hope that you have success. Bill bubbiesmom2001 wrote: > > Bill, thanks for the suggestions, will the MOM effect his BM's? Yes, Dr. on had me do the temovate and the estrace mixed together too. You should hopefully notice a big diffrence when you do that. I did most of my healing when the steroid was added. Guest guest
Have you had any issues with yeast infections after using the steriod. My dr. won't let me use a steriod because my problems started with yeast infections. Guest guest
Haven, Welcome to the group! First off, what is your son's name? Your son sounds a lot like mine (Kepler) at that age. Be thankful that you got the dx so early. We didn't get one until Kep was 3. Unfortunately, you are entering one of the toughest stages for kids with autism. 2-4 is extremely difficult. I know that is not what you want to hear, but it's true. There are things you can look in to concerning the sleep issues, like Melatonin. That works well for several kids on this list. What kind of services are you getting right now? Speech or OT? Anything? Just wondering. Where are you from? It may be hard to believe now, but chances are, your son will say Mommy one day. I really didn't think Kep ever would, but then it happened! He was nearly 4. Kep will be 5 in May and is doing great! He has had a lot of progression this year. Communication makes a HUGE difference in the tantrums. It really does. Kep is also very affectionate, but didn't kiss me until after his third birthday. He does like to give big hugs though. Anyways, ask all the questions you want. We're here for you. Amy H--in Michigan Kepler 4 1/2 ASD and Bethany 6 NT " Harmony breeds ignorance. Guest guest
Hi Haven! You could change your intro to a girl and you would have my daughter. The good news is that Ebony is 4 1/2 now and with medication sleeps 9 to 10 hours a night. She is able to verbally imitate and we are working on spontaneous speech. But what you said about the waking up from naps used to be so true for Ebony. I learned to have her favorite movie in the vcr, a cup ready for her, the lights on very low, no other noise and something ready for her to eat. Then it was better. But heaven forbid if you had to get her a cup after she was up because you forgot or anything....tantrums bad for hours. Also she hadn't had a decent night's sleep in her life until we tried risperdal this last November. What a difference. I hope to hear more about your little boy, soon. Welcome to the group! Guest guest
Haven - Welcome to the list. I am Penny, Mom to Jacqui (HFA, 7) and Jeff (19) Let me assure you that it DOES get better. You are correct that the inability to communicate can be completely overwhelming for our kids and it leads to major frustration. I was just thinking this morning how much my daughter has changed in just one year. And most of it is related to the fact that she can communicate better, and that people can understand HER better. So - good for you for seeking help early. This list will keep you sane. Believe me. Penny :-D
Guest guest
Hi Haven! Welcome! I have 2 son's with autism, ages are in my signature line. Both of mine were also affectionate like you son is. The thing that really helped with my non verbal one when he was around your son's age was teaching him some basic sign language. He wanted to communicate and just lit up when he could sign for a drink or cookie and we knew what he wanted! If your son is getting therapy (OT) talk to them about it. It doesn't delay the start of the kids talking and actually helps. If he's not getting services yet, get a book on ASL, and start with the very basic needs. You will have to show him the sign, then move his hands through it, then reward with the item you are signing...also say the word as you do it. Salli on this list has discovered that her Putter is signing as he talks, even to himself! Guest guest
Lavon, It looks like the viruses have stopped coming. Therefore--I'm off the hook. I see no reason to check all messages for viruses before they can be posted if we aren't in a " virus emergency " . And it seems that the emergency is over. Guest guest
Hi Mark, Guess it depends on how you define emergency and stop. I had five alerts this evening out of 33 messages. All through PLS-Friends or news or names from the group. I'm not opening anything. Ronnie Re: (unknown) > Lavon, > > It looks like the viruses have stopped coming. Guest guest
, The viruses that you received today don't appear to be coming from PLS-Friends or PLS-News. None of today's messages appear to contain a virus. I suspect that one of our members has an computer infected with the Klez virus. The Klez virus is known to use an email spoofing technique to send out emails that could appear to come from PLS-Friends or PLS-News. " Email spoofing " works as follows: The virus infects a computer. It then selects an email address that it finds in the infected computer. It inserts this email address into the " From: " line of an out-going email that includes a copy of the virus. Then it sends the virus-laden email out to addresses from the infected computer's email address book. Undoubtedly, at least one of our members has the Klez virus. Everyone needs to update their anti-virus software, and scan their computer for viruses. (If anyone needs help, please contact me.) Guest guest
Jamaica, I will not offer advice, but I will share with you how I manage my egroups. I use the individual emails (I tried the digest but it was a nightmare to follow) I download them into my outlook express where I have a folder for each group and I use the mail rules to forward them from the inbox to the group folder. Next I have a sub folder called saved info, where I put email I want for reference latter, and another one that says saved receipts. I drag and drop the ones I want to save into those sub folders but I could use a message to move them. I delete the other messages as I go, and every few days I empty the deleted folder. (unknown) New user needs starter navigation advice I am an enthusiastic user of worldwide message communities but new to Yahoo (second posting). Will appreciate starter hints as to technique for best results. Following are some things that come to mind: ·Technique to attract knowledgeable responses to specific questions. ·Generate continuing relationships where special knowledge affinity exists. ·Level of sophistication of software used to connect to broad range of membership. This sounds mundane but recent quality deterioration elsewhere has prompted this initial excursion. The responses, if any, will help me decide as to continuing interest. Will continue to participate as time permits and hope to become a regular.
