Kim,

The PT state practice act and Medicare (CMS) does not

require co-signature of the PTA documentation. BCBS

does require the PT to co-sign PTA notes. Please refer

to the BCBS manual for the reference.

Another good resource for information is the MPTA

Insurance Relations Committee. If not a member, please

consider joining.

Just a reminder that PT's, OT's and assistants from all states are

reading these notes. Each state has its own requirement for

cosignatures. Michigan may not have a requirement, but California does

with specific time lines. I'm sure others do too. For those others

viewing, be sure to check your own practice acts.
