Guest guest
<Low metabolic rate... too low caloric intake and/or excessive exercising... further reduces metabolic rate... making it even harder to lose weight.> Excessive Exercising: Does this mean exercise quantity (too many days per week) or the intensity while doing it? I am assuming doing exercise within your target heart range for 3-5 days per week is ok, but maybe I am wrong? Help? Carol
Guest guest
The rule of thumb here is if it makes you feel bad after, it is too much. Also, you need one day of rest minimum a week for the body to repair. If your excercise is too strenuous, it will cause the slowing of the metabolism. Studies done on marines found that if they over trained, conversion of T4 to T3 slowed and more reverse T3 was made. It is thought that the body responds to over training by slowing down, forcing the person to rest. If you are undermedicated for a thyroid condition and overdo excercise, this will slow the metabolism. If you have low adrenal output, too much excercise can deplete the adrenals and then thyroid function suffers. Some doctors think that today's 45 to 55 minute killer step excercise is really bad for people. Tish
