I've never seen any numbers on that.... It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the T4 to fully affect the body after starting on meds or doing an increase... Once the T4 is in the tissues the conversion process can take place.

So as the T4 moves into the tissues the conversion process can take place BUT there has to be sufficient energy available in the blood (blood sugar) and enough selenium.

The energy is used as the selenium attaches to the T4 and an iodine molecule is pulled off, leaving a T3 molecule behind...

For someone that has insufficient levels of selenium or skips meals leaving them low on blood sugar and available energy for the conversion process to take place they are going to have a tougher time producing sufficient levels of T3 for the body to function properly.

I don't know if that exactly answers your question...

Thanks Topper,

As you may remember, I had a horrible time trying to take even 1/4

grain of Armour even with DHEA. So a different doc is trying me on

Synthroid for the first time in my life. He wants me on 25mcgs of S

for a month. He will then monitor all of my T's after 30 days. I

started the S on November 8 about 4 days ago. So far so good. Any

positive thoughts for me?

I know that you have to adjust your body to accepting the med... I had trouble with that too at first... took two years to get my dosage up without me getting sick.. but keep in mind that is a really small dose and probably won't be making you feel any better.

Let us know how you're doing... what you'll be learning may help others.... I don't think that you and I are the only ones that have ever had a hard time adjusting to meds.....

Are you planning on charting yourself during this? To see how your body adjusts........
