Whether its ambien or something else, find some way to get some sleep.

There is nothing which can compromise your overall health (physical,

mental, and emotional) more than a lack of it. Whatever the side

effects of sleep aids, they side effects of a lack of sleep are greater.

Leanne, I have been taking Ambian for about 10 or 12 years. I started

10 mg when I was Dx with IPF. I am sure you can take it for a week

or two with out becoming addicted. Talk to your druggist. I sometimes

take 15mg by breaking one in half. I will probably take 20 mg.

tonight I really need some knock me out sleep..lol

Peggy....it is my understanding Ambien should not be split, although

I may be misinformed. However, I confirmed this in a couple of

places. If you're varying your dose and sometimes taking 15 mg with

doctor's permission then i would have him rewrite as three 5's per

night or something to give you the flexibility. 20 starts to sound

dangerous to me and as its life is 7-8 hours I would be surprised if

it actually helped you sleep longer, although i'm sure it will make

it harder to get going in the morning.

Hi Peggy,

Eddie, , and I are up here in Dalton, Georgia just laughing and laughing and laughing! These posts today are sooooo funny! We never have had name changes. When Sandie came back today and posted. I laughed even harder.

Bruce, we are laughing with you. I would never have thought of changing my id. It is nice to have these funny moments. Besides, I wonder what your dx is?

I went to IHOP today and had pumpkin pancakes. After reading the story about making pancakes, I thought I would go and eat some at IHOP.

These posts are so influential on our lives. Today I am eating pancakes because of what I read.

Seriously, I went with to the doctor yesterday. She has been having a problem that we did not know or could even figure what it was. The doctor said that she is depressed. I don't know how long it has been going on but I think for several years. has really had a rough time. She hasn't wanted to do anything. I want to get her back to painting, drawing, etc. No wonder she cannot get a job. Today had her haircut and highlighted and she came back so happy. Y'all probably noticed something about when we were in Chattanooga. Leanne, Beth, Joyce, and you have all asked since then about her prospects for a job. The doctor adjusted some of her medicine. Maybe in a week we will all notice a difference. knew something was wrong but she did not know what it was. She has been so aggravated with Eddie and me. I am glad I encouraged her to be with new friends ( and she has, up to 3 times a week) but she would really like to have a boyfriend. I hope one comes along soon for her.

I have been wanting to post this message but I had to wait until Eddie and went to the grocery store.

Jane,

remains in my prayers. My instinct is that she has a sweet spirit and God has something special for her down the road.

Hey Peggy! How are you sweetie? Things are fine here, just very hectic. The house is sold, we close on the 29th. I'm leaving here on the 17th however to go down to NC for the walk through on the new house on the 19th. Then my son and I will be at my sister's for Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to seeing him!!

We close on the new house on the 30th and then we can move in and unpack all the stuff we're packing now! And then comes Christmas!! Holy cow, I need a nap just thinking about it!

Trust me I'll be coming to Florida. I miss you and can't wait to see you again!

Love you!

Maybe in a week we will all notice a difference. knew something was wrong but she did not know what it was. She has been so aggravated with Eddie and me. I am glad I encouraged her to be with new friends ( and she has, up to 3 times a week) but she would really like to have a boyfriend. I hope one comes along soon for her.I have been wanting to post this message but I had to wait until Eddie and went to the grocery store.Jane UIP/IPF 12/1998 Dalton, Georgia

Love you!

PeggyHi Peggy,Eddie, , and I are up here in Dalton, Georgia just laughing and laughing and laughing! These posts today are sooooo funny! We never have had name changes. When Sandie came back today and posted. I laughed even harder.Bruce, we are laughing with you. I would never have thought of changing my id. It is nice to have these funny moments. Besides, I wonder what your dx is?I went to IHOP today and had pumpkin pancakes. After reading the story about making pancakes, I thought I would go and eat some at IHOP.These posts are so influential on our lives. Today I am eating pancakes because of what I read.Seriously, I went with to the doctor yesterday.

My diagonis is IPF. Made in 08/07 and confirmed two weeks ago by

VATS. I'm 58, or at least today thats my age. Now, if I could only

remember my name....oh there it is on that line saying From:

Sure glad I wasn't about to eat when I read your post-pumpkin

pancakes......oh gross.....

Glad you got to the doctor and her depression was discovered.

At one time or another at least 20% of the population will suffer

from depression. For some it will be even oriented and for others it

is a life long condition. I suffer from mental illnesses including

depression and anxiety. Through the most incredible counselor they

are under the best control of my life. Ironic that as I face an

illness which mentally and emotionally tears us down just as it does

physically, I'm actually better in that respect. I'm sure I'll need

that. I couldn't have dealt with this a couple of years ago, I know.

I can't imagine anyone going through this journey we all face without

some bouts of depression, some anger, some despair and hopelessness.

In some ways this isn't just a PF support group, it is a mood support

group. Better than any depression support group any of us could have

because we have more commonality. Not to diminish at all what anyone

struggles with in life, but when you're suffering from PF going to a

group and hearing a 22 year old depressed over their fight last week

with their boyfriend while in perfect health just isn't the same.

Likewise, when you announce I have a monster deadly disease, it would

tend to sort of make them wonder what they're doing there even though

their problem is just as real, just very different.

Also a huge percentage of people find depression enters their life as

they age, period. We use to joke in Florida about Prozac being the

State Drug of Florida. However, it was great that elderly had found

something that helped them through. Doctors of patients with PF need

to be more attentive to the emotional trauma and not just they

physical facts. I know some are.

I'm sure has been going through a " whats the point " mood. Then

it is amazing what just forcing oneself to do one thing, as simple as

her hair, can improve things if just for moments. There is a concept

called " Planned Pleasant Activities " . That doesn't just mean three

month cruises around the world. It is more aimed at finding something

once per day although at first its often just once a week or twice a

week, but something, that is pleasant and planning it in advance and

doing it. It can be as simple as going into a room alone and blasting

your favorite music as loud as you want. It can be a simple walk to

the back yard and watching the squirrels. Its amazing how we plan all

the responsibilities of our life except the one to enjoy ourselves.

ly, we're far worse in this respect in the US than in other

countries. Most Europeans plan vacations months, even years in

advance, don't change those plans for anything, and don't deal with

business when they are on one. We talk about a simple weekend trip

and put it off week after month after year.

There are so many of us who work a lifetime so we can retire and then

reach retirement age and find out we don't have any idea how to enjoy

it. Just as important as eating or showering or running errands or

working (if we do) should be pleasure. For instance, I assume you

play the piano (don't know why, it could just be you sit on the edge

of them) but do you make a point to do it as often as you'd like? I

have a keyboard and can barely play (took a few piano lessons around

50 years ago), but can mess with it just well enough to sing along

(although haven't yet tried singing with oxygen). Now, I just set my

alarm on my phone. But I haven't played it in weeks. Enough, my alarm

on my phone is set to do so at 9 pm tonight for an hour, come hell or

high water.
