Question - Small Groups Moving Mountains?

CARLA -- QUESTION:

The NUFF website has a blurb about support groups – have any been started –

how many, how successful, etc. ????

My curiosity has been aroused because I’m reading “The Tipping Point” by

Malcolm Gladwell (woke up at 4 a.m. today w/ nothing better to do at that

hour) – and keeping in mind your question about how do we move mountains.

He talks about what makes ideas or products really take off – not the

usefulness or necessity of the product or the idea – but how and why the

message spreads, or doesn’t. I am intrigued by the book so far. One point

it makes is that “small close-knit groups have the power to magnify the

epidemic potential of a message or idea.” (p. 174). It seems to me that

smallish support groups all over the country might have real potential for

magnifying NUFF’s message(s) –

Can you tell us what it takes to start such a group – and keep one going –

what has the experience been so far? Has anything been documented? Do

other people on this list think there might be potential here? How, what,

where, when, why, under what circumstances would other people on this Board

be willing to participate, love to participate, what would people expect it

to do for them, etc.???
