Guest guest
Topper, sorry I messed up when I was writing about my t3 and t4. It was actually FREE t3 and t4 instead of just t3 and t4. How does that change things now that you know it is Free t3 and t4? I have never taken anything for my thyroid but I got my ENT doctor to prescribe armour at 60mg for me on Friday. I am not sure why my family doctor checked my b12 levels. I haven't started taking the armour yet. The info that I got about it says to take it on an empty stomach so does that mean I can take it on an empty stomach and then right after that eat breakfast? Krystie p.s. OFF TOPIC. i just started a new job(FT) as a telemarketer. It is so much harder than anyone would guess. I am currently calling customers to upgrade for there dish network satelite. It is awful. I cried for an hour when I got home from work on Friday. > > Hi Krystie, > > The TSH isn't looking bad.... but the T3 and T4... if they are > frees, > the > are both too low... since they aren't marked as being frees, we > assume > they are totals, since that is what many docs seem to check and if > so.. > the numbers are WAAAAYYYY too low. > > If you are staying on synthetics, I'd say it's time to increase, > especially if you are experiencing hypo symptoms. > > If you are switching to Armour... what dose of synthetic are you on > right > now? > > It takes 4 to 6 weeks for an increase in T4 to be fully realized by > your > body... so I always suggest at least 4 weeks.... Guest guest
That makes them low, still... most folks seem to feel the best with the Free T4 mid range, or a tad higher, and the Free T3 in the upper range to a tad over. How are you feeling? Lab results are still only guidelines... it's how you are feeling that is the bottom line. With Armour you have two ways of taking it: Orally, swallowing. If you do it this way it's still best to take it on any empty stomach, but then you have to wait at least an hour before you eat. That has to do with various foods binding with the hormones, making them unusable..... Sublingually, tucking it under your tongue. Doing it this way you can eat as soon as the tabs dissolve... or if you have a 'fast' morning, eat first and then tuck it under your tongue. You get the best absorption and most consistent dosing doing it this way... but, for some, they just can't do it and would rather swallow it.... Swallowing is the less efficient method, as far as absorption goes, so you'll end up taking more med to get the same effect. I take mine sublingually. I keep it on my night stand and pop my first dose under as soon as I wake up. I split my pills and I'd say it takes 20 to 30 minutes for them to dissolve. Right now I need to multidose... I am taking it every 3 hours with the last dose being taken as I crawl into bed at night. We have another gal that sets her alarm an hour and a half early. She pops her's under her tongue and then goes back to sleep until the second alarm, then she can scoot out of bed and hurry scurry and be off to work. It takes a bit of trial and error to figure out the best way for you... The most important thing is that once you decide on how you want to do it... swallowing or sublingually - or the time(s) each day -- that you be consistent. That way your body is getting a consistent dose and you know what is going on... Don't worry... plenty of folks here that are doing it in all kinds of configurations that can share their experiences... One dose, two doses, multi-dosing.. Morning, night. Swallowing and sublingual... What is the dose the doc suggested? What dose of synthetics have you been taking? On your new job... I can believe that there is a lot of stress with that type of a job.... I know it's not easy, but at least you have a job, be grateful for that...
