Dear Lynn,

Had AC together (that nne told you about) - yes, unfortunately within 15 days, shaved my head because I was losing it. Just finished 3rd Taxol on Monday - last one on 10/12.

You'll get through it my girl!

When you're ready, we'll talk side-effects.

sounds like adriomycian, doxyrubicin. or maybe cytoxyn. I had the A/C I was not very nauseous, just puny. I lost my sense of taste, and just before the next treatment I lost ALL body hair. They gave me anti nausea meds before the adriomycian, then I had meds to take home.

I had 36 radiation treatments. I burned pretty bad during the boost phase. So we will give you lots of tips so that will not happen to you. Then I had 2 treatments to Taxol. I got so violently sick with this chemo that I was stopped. I am now a 5 + yr survivor. So it is a doable thing. Good Luck as you embark on this journey.

One thing that will help you is to journal. Take it to the Dr with you and write down everything he tells you. Because you go into overload and dont hear a thing.

Is the " a " one by any chance adriamycin? I can't think of anything that

starts with " oxy " I had cytoxan could that be it? The other one would be

taxol.

I had cytoxan, 5FU and methotrexate. I didn't loose all of my hair it just

thinned but I think with adriamycin you do loose your hair. Couldn't take

taxol as I am receptor negative. You are in my prayers.

Yes, cytoxan sounds like it could be right. And the adriamycin. The

other one sounded like taxofere maybe. She sounded pretty definite

that I'd be losing my hair. Oh joy.....

I lost all my hair with adriamycin/cytoxin. I'm on taxoter now and

it's been rough even though my doctor said it wouldn't be as bad as

the first 4 A/C treatments.

Yes, that all sounds familiar now. The AC followed by either Taxol or

Taxofere. The thought of side effects doesn't really bother me

(although I'm not looking forward to it). I think the most

frightening thing is the fear that it has spread further and/or we

caught it too late. Although the radiation oncologist did say that

I'm still considered curable. I keep hearing those words in my mind -

kind of like a life line I guess.

Ok, what are the other side effects?!?!?!

With A/C I was real tired, worn out by the last week of treatments. I

did work during my treatments part-time. Fatuge hit me the first

Sun & Mon after every chemo like clock work. By 5:00 all I wanted to do

was sleep. I drank lots of water like the doctor said, it helped to

wash the smell out of my system faster. That was it for me with A/C.

So it is a doable thing. Good Luck as you embark on this journey. One thing that will help you is to journal. Take it to the Dr with you and write down everything he tells you. It has been my experience that most doctors won't allow a tape

recorder....I think that is because of so many lawsuits against doctors.
