Guest guest Posted November 30, 2006 Report Share Posted November 30, 2006 UNAIDS Award to CORE on World AIDS Day (AIeF)CORE Centre for Organisation Research & Education (Indigenous Peoples' Centre for Policy and Human Rights in India's North East) has been selected to receive a a Civil Society Award to acknowledge the exemplary role of CORE in the fight against HIV in India. On the occasion of World AIDS Day 2006, UNAIDS and SAATHI are organizing jointly a Civil Society Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the exemplary role of civil society organizations in the fight against HIV in India, especially combating discrimination and denial of access to care and support to indigenous communities in Manipur. Organizations that have through the years provided outstanding support to HIV prevention, treatment and care services at the community level have been selected to receive the awards. UNAIDS is the Secretariat of the selection committee and CORE has been selected to receive the award after a rigorous selection process. The UNAIDS Civil Society Awards Ceremony is organized to take place on 1st December 2006 from 6.30pm to 9.00pm at the National Stadium, New Delhi The event will be televised, partly live partly deferred-live. The event will include moments of entertainment and will provide opportunities for delivering messages on HIV awareness, prevention, care and support.
