Guest guest
Get ready to really rack up the points this week recruits!! This week's challenge will help us to get ready for the new year! This week you'll be EXERCISING YOUR MIND!! So get those thinking caps on and pull out those pencils! This week your challenge is all about setting goals! This week you will be thinking, planning and WRITING your goals for 2005! I want you to think LONG TERM as well as SHORT TERM goals! 1st think of where you want to be in the year 2005? TOPS do you want to reach your goal? do you want to lose X amount of pounds, do you just want to have a net loss for the year? whatever your goal or goals.......think them out. KOPS do you want to get 7 below goal? 5 below goal? do you want to stay in the black all year? Goals are wonderful things - but as in any destination it takes planning soooooo....... 2nd: WHY do you want these specific goals? What is your motivation? 3rd: How will you get to your goals? what steps will you take? 4th: Set your long term goal (whatever it may be) - then set short term goals...those little footsteps that you will take over the year to get there. Last but not least - share your goals You don't have to share specific weights or anything you don't want to with the group, but do share your overall goal and some of the steps you want to take to get there. By sharing with the rest of us - it gives us a chance to help you along the way - giving you encouragement and helping you to remember as the year goes on. Don't panic......I'll be sending out a few emails shortly to help you figure out what the heck I'm talking about ROFL! *****I'm almost finished with mine and will share with you all to give you an idea of where I'm hoping to head in the year 2005! BONUS POINTS! Here's your chance to move ahead in the point spread! BONUS NUMBER 1: All recruits reporting in by Saturday evening (1st) [weigh in, journal, exercise, contact, challenge] will earn a 10 point bonus - be sure to mention if your chapter had a "no meeting" to get your point for weigh-in. BONUS NUMBER 2: SHARE ON THE LOOP something your chapter does that might be of interest to other chapters. Any recruit sharing something of interest will earn a 5 point bonus!! REMEMBER YOUR BONUS from last week!! Because.....the first weigh in after Christmas - if you have a turtle or a loss you will earn an extra 5 points!!! Those of you who have no meetings this week will count your weigh in next week. YOU CAN DO IT RECRUITS!! We can survive the remaining holiday hump together and rack up a LOT of points in the process!! I'll be looking forward to hearing all your success stories!! Guest guest
> 1st think of where you want to be in the year 2005? Right here with my TOPS pals. I will be a member of TOPS another year and my long term goal is to be a member until I die. As far as a weight goal, I would like to be 100 pounds lighter by December 2005, but realistically I'll aim for 20 pounds lighter. My blood pressure medication is a problem with me attaining my weight loss goal, but my doctor and I are working on that together. > TOPS do you want to reach your goal? Yes! I have a one year goal (above) and a five year goal---to get to a healthy goal weight in a healthy manner. > 2nd: WHY do you want these specific goals? What is your motivation? My goals and motivation are blended. Better health is my overall goal. I want to be able to sit in the floor and play with my grandkids instead of having to sit in a chair and have them come to me. I want to be able to ride my bicycle with them without getting winded or have sore muscles. I want to increase my stamina so that I can stand for longer than 15 minutes without extreme lower back pain. I want to be able to empty the clothes dryer and bottom of the dishwasher rack without extreme pain. I want to be able to a reasonable amount of housework without having to sit to rest my back. I want to be able to shop in the mall without having someone push me in a wheelchair. I want to chase my grandchildren in the yard and on the playground. I want to be able to go to my grandchildren's school parties and stand, talking with the mothers rather than sit in a chair. I want to go to a Sunday School party and not have someone immediately show me a large, sturdy armchair in which to sit while others are standing. I want to be able to buy clothes in the " Misses " section rather than the plus-size. > 3rd: How will you get to your goals? what steps will you take? I'm setting my goals in small, attainable increments. I will reduce the amount of food I eat without constantly denying myself the foods that I've always eaten and enjoyed. I'll just eat them fewer numbers of times and in smaller amounts. I will remind myself that the restaurants will be there next week and that I don't have to go this very day. I will remind myself that I can enjoy their food next week. I will continue seeing my doctor and asking questions. I will keep my doctor's appointments and follow up on tests, etc. I will go to my TOPS meetings weekly. Kathleen
