Guest guest
Howy, Helen, welcome... I thing the first steps for you, too, are going to be getting the right tests and determining just what is causing you to be hypo. Considering that your diet was not at all great. I wonder if you might have deficiencies issues. So you want to make sure that they are doing the correct thyroid tests (TSH, Free T4, Free T3, antithyroglobulin and antithyroidperoxidase) and ferritin (storage iron) the Bs... and adrenal levels.. It wouldn't hurt at all to see if they can check your iodine levels either. Have you gotten the results from your last tests yet? I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism 3weeks ago and am going to the doctor to discuss second set of tests.I was reading about the thyromin yesterday and it seems to be a MLM productwhich does not mean it is bad or anything. The prices seem to vary I lookedat 3 different sites and the lowest of the 3 was $33 which is 25% cheaperthan the mfg. for exactly the same product. My question is can adrenal exhaustion mimic hypothyroidism and if so how canI find out. I believe the TSH test is the only one I have had but maybe notas I didn't take note of the first one. I will find out later today what theresults are.I do not have any of the symptoms of hypothyroidism except for weirdsleeping patterns but I have had those forever and am quite overweight witha big fat stomach. Some of that is due to lifestyle as I was in the highArctic for a few years and ate restaurant food at work because it was freeand groceries are very expensive. 6 bucks for a rotten lettuce and once Ipaid $17.00 for a small chicken. So free food was a big financial bonus tome but not for my health.Anyway to make a long story even longer I decided to quit drinking and go ona health food kick and did a liver flush etc. which hit me like a ton ofbricks. The liver tests indicate a fairly healthy liver but I do not believethem really. I have been abusing it pretty good for a very long time.I have also managed to lose at least 12 lbs and have gone from a 2XL to anXL or L depending on the style of course. Even my feet have gone down asize. This is in 5 weeks so that does not seem typical of hypothyroid and Iam pretty sure I am not hyper.>From what I have gathered from reading group emails I am determined not totake anything synthetic if I can help it and am hoping to do somethingnatural or herbal products instead, hence the interest in thyromin etc. Timewill tell I guess. My sister became hyperthyroid and is under control now but god knows whatthey did to her to in the mean time. She was pretty sick for a while.Well thanks for listening and if there is any advice you can give me aboutwhat to ask the doctor I would appreciate it. All advice appreciated.RegardsHelen
