Hi Sherri,

I am having Dr. Glassner (Philadlephia -Bryn Mawr- Paoli) do the abdominal myo

on me on April 16. I saw him on Friday and he still insists I will be able to

go up stairs when he releases me 2 days later, can drive in a week, and back to

work in 3 weeks. When I tell him everyone else's experience is 5-8weeks, he says

his experience/skill is better. BUT he also says that he doesn't need to follow

up with me and he sees few of his patients for follow up. He is not even

concerned about what happens to me later, but expects I will see my regular

doctor or gynecologist. I found him through HERS (Hysterectomy Education

Resource Services) after 6 doctors said I needed a hysterectomy, and I have no

bleeding problems but a 20 week abdodmen.

As much as I trust him and hear such good things about him, even from other

doctors, I am equally appalled at the continued arrogance I experience with

doctors, and their lack of follow through. It is the nurses I think that get us

through this. Only time will tell for us, so anyone else who has seen Dr.

Glassner, please let us know your experience. He doesn't really know that data

post-myo.

I wish you the best of luck and hope I can let you know how I do. Leave me a

message after the 20th at (Wayne PA) for an update. Do get help

for at least 2 weeks for your little ones. You will heal better if you rest in

any situation.

Best wishes,

Loretta

Abd Myo Recovery

Thanks to this list, I have explored my treatment options and found a

gyn. On April 30, I will undergo an abdominal myomectomy with Dr.

Glassner. I need some advice on the recovery process.

I am a full-time mother of two children, ages 1 and 3. I don't have

any extended family in this part of the country, so I will need to

find and hire someone to help take care of my kids after the

myomectomy.

Can anyone advise me as to how long it will be before I would be able

to drive? To lift my baby into and out of her crib? To feel up to

taking care of two very active little kids? Your perspective will

help me as I try to arrange child care. Right now, I have no idea

what I will do.

Thanks for your help.

Sherri
