Guest guest
NIGHT SWEATS: M.D.s will sometimes “add back” oral estrogen for people on Lupron. You could ask – if you are willing to do that. Seems convoluted to me – first you get shot up with something to eliminate your estrogen, then when you’re rid of your own estrogen, you take some other kind of estrogen. I find that eating “phytoestrogens” helps me (perimenopause/not Lupron) – doesn’t eliminate them but keeps them MUCH milder. The most potent sources are flaxseed and some soy products, there are many other sources which provide smaller amounts. Sleeping in a cool room helps – as does light cotton night-wear, cotton sheets & mattress pad and bedding that can easily be thrown off (sort of like layering your clothes). I am told by friends that electric blankets bring them on and that a covered mattress should have a breathable cover, not plastic. Also I know people who say keeping a glass of water by your bed and having a big drink when it starts helps. There must be a million books on menopause out there. Many offer suggestions on these things – I suspect some work for some women, others for other women. I’d suggest going to bookstores and reading the parts you’re interested in & you might get some ideas that will work for you. You don’t have to actually buy the books. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
