Greetings from " Uttaranchal People Positive " (UANP+)!

We are pleased to inform all that (Uttaranchal Network of People Positive) UANP+

received its registration certificate on 11th July 2006. The board consists

seven HIV+ people. We waited this long to break this news to you all as we were

awaiting the affiliation from INP+. But till date the process is not yet

complete and hope to get it by mid of August 2006.

Uttaranchal is a state where the work is too challenging as there is still no

full time PD in UA SACS and most of the positions are lying vacant. The CD4

mostly lies defunct after installation and there is no ART center. Our HIV+

members have to travel to Delhi or Chandigarh to get ART. This needs for

immediate advocacy with UASACS.

Another important fact is that we have many young HIV+ widows if ex-defence

personnel and there is a felt need to engage with the forces for better support

to those.

Ref. Rajinder Dass's message on Uttaranchal positive network

The same situation of Uttaranch in Jharkhand also. Though, some hospitals are

providing ART, but it is not much. Only 112 PLHa are getting ART. It is also

from BPL grant.

Now the JSACS is thinking to provide ART from RIMS Hospital in Ranchi. However,

the number will be same, as 112.

We have a PLWHA network just formed, formed it with the help of INP+, CRS and

also with the help of JSACS.

They have also no CD4 count machine. That is why I am planning to organize a

consultancy in Jharkhand PLWHA network. That network will try to find out the

gaps of the Care and support system in Jharkhand. They will make

somerecommendation. And at least they will present it to the P.D of the JSACS.

I am trying to do it on 31st August to 1st September. From this consultancy P.D

will understand what are the gaps need to be fulfill. I am doing it because I am

the regional coordinator of INP+(Eastern Region). I am looking after 5states.

Those states are Bihar,

Jharkhad,Orissa, Sikim andWest bengal.

Mr.Naresh Yadav(President of Uttar Prodesh Network) is also looking after the

northern part of India. I liked your commitment. Keep it up. Be focus on those

issues which are not in favour towords our community.
