Guest guest
I think being tired is a state of mind and also whether you keep you body active instead of being a couch potato, laying around howling like a dog laying on a nail. Get up and be more active during the day, push yourself some and you'll more than likely find more energy in the end. I dont mean to get people mad but I think saying NF is a reason for being tired is too easy of a finger to point. It seems like everyone wants to blame every itch and pain on NF which are just normal things that happen. So if my butt itches too much, does that mean I need an MRI? Guest guest
: I think tiredness is definitely a part of NF2. I don't believe it's just young or old (I'm neither -- just the perfect age!) and I don't nap every day -- but if we're planning on doing something in the evening, I definitely have to nap. And nap again the next day. And it started seriously just a couple months before they found the first tumors. Charlotte

Guest guest
Hey Earl...LOL! I was VERY active till about a year ago and had to give up my business because my muscles would not allow me to lift things any more. I am still active, and still get very tired and usually end up with a 1-5 hour nap, depending on what I have done and how many days I have exerted myself. If I get groceries I have to rest for about an hour.... If I watch my grandchildren, I am down for about 2-3 hours after they leave.(4 and twins 10 mths). I have seen myself dwindle not for lack of activity, but for limited capabilities from my body. I can't tell you how frustrating it can be at times, especially when I want to go somewhere and do something, and I can't because of pain and/or exhaustion. The other side.....hahahaha Carol earledillon@... wrote: I think being tired is a state of mind and also whether you keep you body active instead of being a couch potato, laying around howling like a dog laying on a nail. Guest guest
Thanks Jane. Also, read my post to Earl. I am 45..ok, 45 1/2.. but I don't think you and I are over the hill. My thoughts are young, my emotions wish to learn things, and I used to be active. This disease is just eating my body up and yes it makes me angry because nothing is in sink anymore. I do understand that not everyones is NF2 related and it can be a mind thing also. Depression itself can cause great tiredness. For me personally, as I stated earlier, I don't think my tiredness is from my NF2. I am over the hill (almost 48 years old). But for others, yes, it is. I think it is good for all of us to share our experiences. One thing good about this group is we strive to help each other and not "make light" of others. Nice welcome card to new members, Carol. Guest guest
Marcus, You obviously have tremendous drive and I expect good energy still. I used to push myself until my husband named me the work warrior. But I have learned that arthritics and people with fibromyalgia have the problem of not listening to their bodies. So I am trying to be good. Keep up the swimming. It is the best for you. Hi to the family. Vicki

Guest guest
Vicki, I may have been blessed with NF2, but my wife is one of those with Fibromyalgia and arthritis. She works like hell during the week and collapses on the weekend. She DOESN'T listen to her body. What a couple we make. I'm just lucky that my NF2 has only affected my hearing and not anything else. Someone needs to take care of her. I end up cooking, laundry, cleaning and all that other fun stuff. Fibromyalgia ...the silent killer! Guest guest
From one website, I found this quote. I haven't nailed down the passage in the book, but here it is. May it help someone. It helps me. So do magic beans. " You have so many extraordinary gifts, how can you expect to live an ordinary life? " ~~from the screenplay of " Little Women " , Marmee to Jo ----- Yes, all of you are extraordinary. Janice
Guest guest
Mikey, Is there anyway that your wife doesn't have to " work like hell " during the week? The body is talking to her as well. She may like to try the relaxation techniques and muscle relaxing techniques during the day or in a.m. or p.m. to release tension from the muscles that hurt when stressed. I took a 6-week pain mgt. class for this and it was great. Of course, doing the work we need is the tough part. Today at a Flavor Conference at Lawry's/Gas Co. I learned to stay away from the shade veggies like mushroom, tomatoes and asparagus. All m y favorites. But I will try. I wish her healthy, pain free days. Regards, Vicki
