I don't understand WHY they can't remove "most" tumors while they are small. And can't you say what your needs are to your doctor? Have you gotten any second opinions? However, you say the AN is still there and continually causing more damage. Sooner or later that tumor MUST come out. A 2nd opinion may open door for other options and save some functioning. I am 35 and have had around 5 T.I.A.'s. Since I signed off the crew so many things have happened. As you know before I signed off I was going crazy with worry for my daughter Olivia. That hasn't stopped. She had her left An removed and lost her hearing 100%, but the doctor was able to save the facial nerve. She has one on the other side and I'm finding it very difficult to get her to realize how important it is to take care of it now. She also has one on her spine. She is 18 and I have no say in her life now, ugh! She might not live until 19 though! I told Lynn & Carol that I would send in a bio and I will. I guess I need to think about everything that has happened and try and shorten it up as much as possible. My last surgery was August of 2000 and that made for a grand total of 14 or so surgeries. Believe it or not, I've lost track! When I send in my bio, if you read the one from when the crew first started you will notice quite a few changes in my life. This is tough isn't it? The one in the spine is so important for her functioning. Anne has several there too. We are watchful waiting because we have her on a trial med. to see if some fluke of science it will work and deter further growth of themultiple tumors she has. She has had 3 spine surgeries and hinging on another if she is fortunate and we can wait to see if the meds work. Because my daughter is developmentally delayed, she relies on me totally and will for the most part do what her parents say. It is just a real tough situation no matter how we look at it.
