Well because I was going to be getting some dental work done at a dental school here in Detroit, they needed a letter from my cardiologiist stating my current cardiac condition. Well to make a long story short, I saw a cardiologist & she put me through a bunch of tests including a chest MRI. The MRI showed a severe coarctation or narrowing of the aorta. Well she referred me to a Pediatric Cardiologist because a coarctation or narrowing is congenital & he also had more experience with them. Well I'm scheduled for a cardiac catheterization for the 19th with the possibility of a stent being put in but won't know until they actually get in there. Also after having a coarctation or narrowing of the aorta, there's a possibility that a brain aneurysm could form but there's a slim chance. If there needs to be a stent put in then I will be in overnight but if there doesn't need to be one put in, then I will go home the same day.As of right now I'm good to go to do the walk. Dr agreed that we should get it done ASAP so I can do the walk & continue training for it & also so nothing happens while I'm doing the walk. Honestly, I think that starting to get the dental work done may very well have saved my life if you think about it. I haven't seen the cardiologist since we moved here 10 years ago because there hasn't been any need to see the cardiologist. Thanks!

Guest guest
Hi All! Tomorrow morning I am having the cardiac catheterization at Children's Hospital in downtown Detroit & we will find out if they need to put a stent in to open the narrowing of the aorta that may have reformed. I will try to email you all on Tuesday to let you all know how it went. All the prayers & good thoughts tomorrow will be appreciated!
