Guest guest
Hi Patty, I recently joined this group too--although my DCIS was diagnosed back in December. Only thing I did not have was biopsy of the nodes--that bothers me but I trust the doctor not to have made a mistake-- I just completed 33 radiation treatments this week. I started on Tamoxifen early in the treatment, but it made me quite sick. I could not deal with being that sick (stomach and abdominal pain, big time) and going for radiation too so I stopped the pill. Radiology oncologist said it was OK to do so, but encouraging me to see the new medical oncologist soon, which I will. I am quite a few years older than you, but the shock, fear and feelings are the same. I felt--hey this was not supposed to happen to me! One cousin with bc at 39 (she is now in 70's) and an aunt who developed bc and ignored it-70+ at onset, died very soon after. Nevertheless, it hit me. Anything I can contribute to you for support, info, etc., I will be happy to. I got much support from friends of friends who have been through this but not exactly same thing as mine. DCIS does not always mean the same thing, I now understand! Guest guest
Talked with my doctor about this, and found that the rash I had was actually a blessing. If I hadn't had it, I would not have gone for a mammo. And no, the rash actually had nothing to do with it---she said it was probably irritation from my bra or detergent. But the rash did cause me to go for a mammo and to catch this early. Patty in CTElaine Hudkins wrote: Patty, I had a biopsy back in September 2003 and it came back fine. But a couple weeks ago I noticed a rash on the underside of my right breast. It is almost gone now but the skin has a shinny spot there. Is this anything like what you had? Unfortunately, Another New to the Group Sadly, I am also joining this group!!!!----a group which hopefully by 2010 will be no longer needed!!!Anyways, went for mammo (due to rash, which I thought was from my bra!!!).
