Guest guest
> I would be very wary about progesterone hormone therapy, incidentally. My GP in the UK decided my problem lay more in the regularity of my periods than in the heaviness or duration of them, and prescribed progesterone. The five months I took those tablets saw both the heaviness and duration of periods increase -- although I certainly was regular about both! -- and I believe this therapy contributed substantially to my landing in the emergency room for transfusions. (My gynaecologist in the US concurs, saying that there is little if any evidence progesterone controls fibroid growth or side effects like bleeding.)> REPLY: If you were taking pills; they may have been synthetic progesterone. Have you read Dr. Lee on progesterone? is using the natural Cream in those little single dose capsules for fourteen days per period. Only for three cycles so far. Her fibroid history, four years ago her first visit concerning the fibroids was to a prominent local Gyn., He said he took a biopsy and He made an appointment for a sonic scan for the next AM. All came out expensive and negative for Cancer. Scared the heck out of her. I immediately read several books about fibroids and decided that Dr. is a poor one. He had no business scaring her like that. If His office had their way she would have had a major operation long ago. She suffers mostly from fear. The fibroids do not seem to have grown much if at all during the last three years. She is five foot tall and almost slim. Possibly one is Lemon size and the other an egg. They cause some discomfort once or twice a year for a few days. Her periods are as usual. She was 24 when we married; 29 when our son was born; 45 now. I have kept us on an above average nutritious diet. She often works as a Cook, so she eats some things that are not too good sometimes. We do not use sugar or white flour and sometimes some fruit is not eaten so it spoils- better than not having any available. She has seen other Doctors since then; They just say " Someday they will have to come out. " but has never been treated for the fibroids. gets plenty of exercise. I have been reading about health issues since we got a computer seven years ago. I did a bit of volunteer work for a Heart Research Center and also had a personal Dr. for many years. just between us there are many areas of medicine where Dr.s are probably dangerous. Two Dr.s that I respected told me " We don't know much about that! " When I asked them about several different things. If the fibroids become a problem we will do something- The hardest part will be finding a satisfactory Dr. >Has seen an ob-gyn in the last month or so; and is the doctor monitoring her health over time? Even before trawling the web, she needs a benchmark, to know when the time of " watching and waiting " -- which so many of us on this site have gone through -- changes to the time for action.> REPLY: If they become a problem we will do something- The hardest part will be finding a satisfactory Dr. The nearest City is Salt Lake, if some one knows a qualified and effective Dr. in SLC please Email us direct. lorenzo1@... There was one good post on the blood question. I will watch for nutritional articles on anemia. Has anyone reported good results from trying a nutritional approach. I have read that there are countries where the problems discussed here on this list are less common- that could be due to nutrition and or walking- we are the only ones that have cars to go to the market with; and our diet is horrible. Some people get so little exercise that a new type of Massage has been developed to flush the lymph system. There is a FlaxseedOil list that records good results reported by people who take flaxseed oil mixed with Cottage Cheese to get over serious diseases. I have not seen anything there about these problems; it sounds silly but there is sound reason behind it- mostly we suffer from a lack of EFA's and when we get sick this combination restores the EFA's. > I am on this list to help my wife, with finding a way to defeat her > fibroids by natural means. does not use the computer; I do! > > I skim this list for natural or progesterone items; usually not reading > anything unless I see those referenced. > Lorenzo
