AIDS claim 210 lives in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 19 (UNI): As many as 210 people died of AIDS

in Kerala during the past five years, the State Assembly was informed

today.

In a written reply, Health Minister P K Sreemathy said as per the

records available with the government hospitals, there were 2,221 AIDS

patients in the state. Of which, 121 persons were below the age of 14

years.

She said the government was providing funds to 67 voluntary agencies

working in the field of rehabilitation of AIDS and HIV positive

patients in the state.
