Guest guest
/Well that is just the point; We all think it is a good idea, but how many will actually pick up and go--be it family, job, or whatever that keeps them where they are? Or would we figure that this home would be for NF2 folks who are on disability/not working? Marie Re: re: NF2 house location You know we all like the idea of a house, but do you really think we could ever agree on a site? And if we did, how many of you would REALLY go to live there? Now be honest; think if you have future surgery ahead, and your family will not be there to care for you, etc. --would you really relocate? The devil's advocate, marie

Guest guest
I have two views of this: 1) I can see buying a BIG old house, house 5 to 6 crewbies, prolly single ones. sort of like college thing, but better than a dorm. maybe even get it funded and paid for for those who truly qualify or, 2) here in clearwater we have a renovated "days inn" motel that is now apartments for the deaf. they are not bad, not "GREAT" but very liveable. cheap too. but the idea of a small apartment complex called "nf2 house" woud be great5. maybe a pool and other stuff. i'm thinking permanent housing, not temporary .this would not be for everyone. Jeff Wurst wrote: Well, I imagine the other members of the house would become your new family. We could look after each other or maybe have nurses come and help like jimmy does. Guest guest
I like both of those ideas; now before we could progress, we would need to have some committment. If we were to come up with something like this, obviously it would not be big fancy living; I think it would be a tradeoff; not big and fancy in the material sense, but yet a sense of belonging, sharing, and taking care of one another. How many folks are prepared/able/willing to relocate and go for such an idea? marie Re: re: NF2 house location You know we all like the idea of a house, but do you really think we could ever agree on a site? Guest guest
I’ve been reading the suggestions for the nf2 house and we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s going to be "one" house. Some say in comparison to a Mc House, but do we have that many NF2’ers that will live together under one roof from all regions of United States and possibly beyond? Mc’s Houses are for family members of seriously ill children, it’s not a permanent residency like what we’re talking about. Someone mentioned early about funding, and that’s why these Mc Houses are very well put together, because of the obvious funding. That’s how the NF2 house should be built. Something else comes to mind and that’s, "why have one house?" Why one location? How many of us want to relocate? To change doctors? Why not have more than one house? Have and North, South, East and West NF2 House locations or regions. We could probably build something like this if we get the support and funding. I think we have to put together questions and ask ourselves, why do we want this house? If we had to put together a proposal, what would be in it! What’s the real goal or purpose for wanting this house, then send it out to every single NF2’er we can track down, and get some feedback. Find out what they’d like to have in an NF2 house or what they would want from it. You can’t buy any old place bc you’ll need to have certain accommodations to support the accessibility of our needs, i.e. like wheelchairs, etc. I think an NF2 house would be a great idea. I think it would be the perfect refuge or extended living environment, however we decide to set it up, and it’s a great way to support each other in times physical and emotional need. Just my thoughts-- Greg You know we all like the idea of a house, but do you really think we could ever agree on a site? And if we did, how many of you would REALLY go to live there? Just my thoughts-- Greg You know we all like the idea of a house, but do you really think we could ever agree on a site? And if we did, how many of you would REALLY go to live there? Now be honest; think if you have future surgery ahead, and your family will not be there to care for you, etc. --would you really relocate?
