Guest guest Posted October 23, 2006 Report Share Posted October 23, 2006 POSITION SUMMARY: SENIOR MANAGER WORK PLACE INTERVENTION POPULATION SERVICES INTERNATIONAL BACKGROUND Population Services International (PSI) is a non-profit, Indian Society which began operations in 1988. It is affiliated with PSI in Washington, DC which has similar connection to organizations in 60 different countries. PSI is dedicated to the improvement of public health through promotion of products, services and information which empower people to protect themselves from preventable diseases. PSI currently operates in 10 states with a full-time and contract staff of 1700 persons. They are planning for a major, new project to enhance the capacity of commercial firms to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in their workplace and communities. The project will focus on Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and 6 port cities of the country where PSI has led a successful HIV prevention project over the past five years. Successful implementation of the project will require engagement with industry to encourage uptake of good workplace policies and practices in support of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support. A hallmark of the program will be the contribution of additional resources by commercial firms, either in cash or in-kind, for support of community-level responses targeting those most at-risk of contracting and transmitting the virus. PSI will focus efforts in 70 cities previously selected for levels of HIV prevalence and levels of risk behavior. Commercial firms in and around these locations will be targeted for participation in the program. POSITION PURPOSE Lead the conception, design, implementation, monitoring and endorsement of HIV/AIDS focused interventions with public private sector to address the HIV epidemic in workplaces and communities. RESPONSIBILITIES OF SENIOR MANAGER WORKPLACE INTERVENTION * Develop a plan with quantifiable project deliverables, a discrete and realistic strategy and built-in measures for monitoring. * Recruit, orient, support and lead a core team to implement the strategy successfully at the targeted firms. * Obtain commitments from the targeted firms to take forward the strategy on workplace and community activities in their organizations and inculcate the same at a policy level. * Undertake intervention monitoring at the targeted organizations with both internal and third party resources. * Consolidate and disseminate good practices at local, state and national levels with the support of apex business organizations. * Oversee allocated project budgets in collaboration with PSI Admin & Finance teams. * As part of the broader PSI management team, contribute to learning across the various programs in HIV/AIDS, Maternal and Child Health and Family Planning. MUST HAVE * 7-10 years experience, with expertise in the developing and executing workplace intervention programs. * Ability to set quantifiable deliverables and be accountable for results. * Understands health space with specific focus on issues related to HIV prevention, care and support. * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work independently and also participate productively in a team environment. QUALIFICATIONS * Post-graduate degree in Public Health or related field.
