Okay, I'm at a loss. I was going along just fine, swelling was reducing, almost

gone, feeling pretty darn good and Whammo! within 24 hours, swelling back with a

vengeance, BP high again and feel very bad. Right now, I feel like my skin's

going to pop and everything aches.

The only thing I have done differently is that I had found a Chelated Iron that

I tolerated really well, which I started on Tuesday night and did not get

constipated from it. But I don't know why it would take until Friday night for

the swelling to return. I'm taking B-12 sublingually. Is there some other

factor I'm missing to process Iron maybe? I know I need to get Iron re-checked,

I have the lab request, just can't seem to get out in AM to get there to do it!

Iron was only 19 in Dec, but I've been doing lots of foods to increase it and

obviously something was working, cause I was feeling dramatically better and the

swelling was going away. Currently up to 80 mcgs of T3 and holding til I figure

this out.

I did read the post about copper and I was deficient in it before, so I can add

that in.

I'd appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Sorry do you still have your monthly cycle? Your temps do nto look

stellar stable either which I suspect you might need a tad more HC. but

if it si righ before your period or it just started I would say it si

low progesterone casueing the symptoms.

I do still get a period, and actually it is due right now! Aarrghh!

The progesterone thing; last fall, my test revealed abnormally high levels of

prog the last two weeks of the cycle, so I stopped it completely. My Doc and

Lab Doc were very puzzled by this and had no explanation. I started back with

it sometime around January and we thought it might be contributing to the

swelling, so I stopped again.

Week ago Saturday, I took one day of it, saw the swelling increase slightly and

stopped again. Figured I'd better do without it.

I do still take compounded DHEA, only 3 mgs. twice daily, and compounded

Estriol2/Estradiol.5, which I have done for a while.

So you think it's the period thing? Geez, we're back to the whack-a-mole thing.

Just when you get one thing sorted out, something else rears it's ugly head!

Thanks, Val!

Yeah I suspect it is th eperiod thing. BUT I would stop DHEA. For now as

it can confuse the issue an seldom does good things when cortils is not

working right.

Okay, I will stop DHEA. I thought it was helping, but I don't know that much

about how it works. What does it do that's bad? Just curious for future

reference.

Do you think I should add in another 2.5 mgs of Cortef? That would put me at 40

mgs -- eek!

Thanks much,

DHEA can convert to estrogen which if ti si already high can create a

worse disaster. Or it can make DHA go high which can cause hair loss. Or

it can convert to too much tetosteorne and cause pimples, and hair

growth wher you do not want it. Much better to supplement the end

hormones that are lwo than risk it doing things you do nto want.

Conversions seem to really be unpredictable and unfriendly when cortils

is off.

Got it! I haven't had the hair loss from my head, though just eyelashes seem to

fall out -- gave up wearing make up months ago. And yeah, get the upper lip and

chin nasty dark hairs and an occasional pimple. Geez, we all have our special

things to deal with, huh?

You know I hear about Docs recommending 30-50 mgs of DHEA for women and I was

only taking 3 mgs twice a day. Is there a different dosage scale or something?

Thank you for the info.

Hugs,

When I had health y adrenals I could take 150-200mg DHEA a day and lost

weight and felt great energy fromit. NOW I cannot take over 5mg without

getting BAD symptioms from it. it is a strange hormone. I do not think

they knwo9 much of anything about it and I suspect it has alot to do

wioth Growht Hormones and others we also know little about.

Since you said the only thing you had changed was an iron supplement:

is it possible that you are taking your iron at the same time, or

close to, your thyroid supplement?

Only reason I mention this is: last time I picked up Cytomel at the

pharmacy, there was a little yellow tag added to the bottle that was a

patient warning against taking iron closer than 4 hours to the time

thyroid is taken. However I couldn't find any info in the Cytomel

prescribing information from KingPharmaceuticals.com, about

incompatibility with iron. One internet ref I found says that iron

interferes with absorption of levothyroxine, but they didn't say

if the same effect happens with triiodothyronine.
