Guest guest Posted February 26, 2002 Report Share Posted February 26, 2002 Hi , I also have UD and I was adamantly asking for a cerclage with my first pregnancy, although I didn't really have any indications for it, other than the UD itself. My doctor told me that it isn't advisable unless there were prior losses - I just HATE that logic, don't you - and that there are actually some risks associated with it. It may cause infection, bring on pre-term labour or cause damage to the cervix. Of course, the flip side is that it may make the difference between a 2nd trimester loss or a pregnancy that goes to term. Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience, cerclage seems to be yet another one of those controversial procedures, at least to some OB's.
