Corky -

I guess it's either something growing on my ovary (I don't like that option),

a thyroid problem, or something causing my ovaries to not put out the

hormones necessary for normal function. I learned a bit more about the

female anatomy today - I think that kind of stuff just isn't talked about

like it should be.

I went wacko (big time) on Birth control pills, and just couldn't take them

for very long at all. It's odd now - I just plain skipped a period in

December - yet had three in November.... But it's not like I skipped PMS....

I'm thinking of getting a bumper sticker that says " I have a hormonal

disorder - please drive carefully " . Cuz I can be totally explosive over

something really minor!!!

Oh Terri, what do they think is going on? I was on progesterone for four

years, I hated it.

I was on the patch for 6 weeks and had a horrid pain in my leg so I took it

off and the pain went away . I smoked then too. I did not want to have

periods either so I did not bother with HRT.

Teri,

You have my sympathy. It's not fair that women have to have all

these problems. I hope your ultrasound comes out good and you don't

have to be on Progesterone for too long. I understand the ups and

downs. The holidays are depressing enough for me, but I've been

fortunate this year for it to be TOM for Thanksgiving & Christmas. My

hormones are out of control. I am thinking of going back on

anti-depressents which I quit about a month after going on Atkins.

Don't feel bad, my husband is the same way. I just wish I was

interested. I feel so old!

Hang in there!

Robin -

Yesterday they did a FSH (to see where I am with respect to menopause) and a

TSH to see if my thyroid is acting up.... The guy who drew my blood said

the results would be in last night, but I'm sure it takes some time to get

the results actually in the hands of the doctor. I was hoping to hear

something today, but who knows. I'd like to know what's going on with this

weight thing......

The doctor was just guessing now - without any real results to go by. I

started the Progesterone last night, and I still look like I'm about 5 months

pregnant..... I guess I'm to take it for 5 days, then stop, which should

get a period going.

Barbara -

The doctor did suggest these too - but I was on those many years ago for

" post-concussion headaches " . I found I hated that fuzzy feeling, and quit

them - thinking I could handle the headaches on my own.

For this purpose, I didn't like using those pills. They're a god-send for

people in the pits of depression, and they work for PMS - but I didn't want

to try that just yet - at least until I see just what the physical problem is

(if there is one).....

I feel old too - but I feel blessed too - I have actually lived long enough

to be talking about menopause!

I was listening to Venus this morning on the " Today " show - sheesh.

She just signed a 40 million dollar deal with Reebok, and her comment was

" I've worked hard all my life, and I deserve everything I'm getting " .

That's another plus of middle age - we've got the experience to act like real

human beings!!!

I'd heard that before, but not from her - from WebMD. I know - I'll keep

Boy, oh Boy Terri - Do I ever know what you mean. I have been an A1,

Number One Bitch for the past 2 months. I know it is hormonal, but I don't

want to go on any hormone therapy. I have friends that LIVE on the patch.

My DH has been wonderful, but he finally came to his breaking point this

morning. We sat in a freezing car and had a long heart-to-heart. So, for

the past 5 hours we have gotten a long very well (we'll see how long it

lasts).

I have told my doctor for 3 years that I am going through menopause and

can tell exactly when I ovulate. He basically laughed and said I was too

young. I have had 2 ovarian sonograms and neither showed any problems.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Susie

You know, even in real life they think I am quite a bit younger than I am.

Must be because I don't have kids, or am childish or something. I have a

BIG birthday coming up and it isn't 40.

Susie I started having hot flashes when I was about 40 . I am 53 now and

through periods so I know a hot flash when I have them. The doctors told me

too that I was not going through the change but I knew I was. Towards 50 I

would not have as many periods in winter and as I have said before just like

an old hen who gets light, in the summer I started laying eggs. And this is

when I would have my blood tested and of course it said I was menopausal.

And the worst part about those moods was I would be so crabby and then

realize why. I only took the patch for 6 weeks. I suffered but it was worth

it . I saw what they do here in Canada to those poor pregnant mares.

Glad that you were able to discuss this with your DH .

I'm on HRT - but I take a Prempro pill each morning. No days off. I

spotted one morning - the second week I was on it. Took a second pill and

it stopped and I haven't had it since. I can't use patches of any kind.

I'm allergic to the adhesive in them. I feel much better, and not depressed

anymore (well - unless I think about my Mom) and that's probably normal.

Before the HRT, I really had gotten to the point that I didn't really care

about anything except my job. And I've NEVER been depressed pre-menopause.

Just since I zeroed out on hormones. I refuse to have periods, though. My

doc said that if I start getting them, he will just up the dosage of

prempro. So far, so good.

Yeah Robin , That is one of the main reasons why I did not go for the HRT as

I did not want periods and the DR said I would have them. Yesterday at work

I think most of the women were complaining of TOM, aches and pains etc. I

AM FREE ! FREE AT LAST!

Bingo. On January 16th, my Mom will have been in heaven for 6 years. I

still have troubles with that. I sat at my kids' Advent Program, with an

empty spot in the chair next to me, and imagined that my parents were there

with me.... If I really pushed it, I could hear my Dad singing along with

the kids..... Pretty wierd, huh?
