Guest guest
Wow, Jodi really got me thinking with the whole " would you rather, " thing. Darnit, I don't have time to think!!! I was trying to visualize all the people in my 3D support group and ticking off what I assume their WLS success are one by one. I though about one young (around 24-25 yrs old) woman who is looking absolutely fabulous... body to die for and not one ounce of plastic surgery. Her skin bounced back beautifully and she is, deservedly, strutting her stuff now. So here is my vs. issue. I think she has most certainly succeded at her weight loss and gained a beautiful new look and attitude but, has her overall WLS program been successful... according to our (we had the same) surgeon's guidelines, no. I've watched this lady from the very beginning of her journey, when she attended meetings prior to her WLS and up until our last meeting at the beginning of the month. So far I am aware of at least 2 admissions to the hosp to remove blockages, one because she decided she wanted a taco and fries within a couple of months of her WLS. The other blockage occurred because of something else she ate, but I don't recall what it was. Lady X admits she can't stand to exercise and continues to eat junk and is thrilled that the weight came off regardless. Sure, she succeeded in reaching a healthy weight and all around better health, but did she succeed at being a good WLS patient? Toi
