Dear Forum,

Greetings.

Thanks a lot to Mr. Vidya Krishnan from “Hindustan Times” for bringing the news

“Patient dies after being refused treatment”

Mr. Vidya Krishnan reports that “A 26 year old man died of renal failure at Lok

Nayak hospital after being reportedly refused treatment on suspicion that he was

HIV positive”. All mighty God may provide peace to his soul.

I would like to bring to Mr. Vidya Krishnan’s notice that the number

1,24,995 which is given by NACO is total number of AIDS patients which

means, “full grown HIV infection which has put the patient in low immune and the

person has great threat of having OIs”. The number 5.7 million which is

submitted by NACO too is Number of HIV infected people in India.

May I request Mr. Vidya Krishnan to bring the name of the senior doctor who has

made the statement “Most Government Hospital, including LNGP, do not have

dedicated machines to treat HIV patients.

To teat the patient properly, the hospital staff requires consumable to protect

themselves. When we do dialysis, it is at our own risk”, puts a great question

mark on NACO’s (which is a nodal agency)efforts being made and pronounce some

facts that only paper work and leap service is not going to serve the purpose

even after 17 years of its creation.

In Solidarity,

Dhananjay.
