Guest guest
Does anyone else get sick of the food? It's not that I want to eat carbs - I really don't feel like that either. But the food on plan doesn't appeal. I roasted a chicken the other night, and that was fine.... maybe I'm losing my appetite. Anyone else go through phases like this? I did make a low carb cheesecake last night. Hopefully that will help perk things up. Dana Hi Dana Yes, I feel exactly the same way. Alot of times I just can't think of anything I want to eat, carb or otherwise so I just eat something to keep my metabolism going and so that I don't get sick. I'm totally bored with food and it just doesnt interest me like it used to. There are alot of days when I dont feel like eating but every once in a while I have a day where I'm starved and I'll eat quite a bit (only legal things though).....maybe it is ketosis doing this...I'm really not sure. I'm just glad that I'm no longer obsessed with what I'm going to eat from one meal to the next like I used to be.

Guest guest
I find as long as I stay inventive I don't get tired of the food. Veggies are a great source of variety for me - also changing the way I cook meats. Sometimes something as simple as frying your chicken instead of roasting it makes a big difference. Stews and soups are fun to make and can liven up lunches with the leftovers. I tend to think of the carbs as the rather tasteless things we used to fill our plates with - now we get to have more of the good stuff Kirstie

Guest guest
Dana, Sounds like it might be ketosis working. I'm not a giant fan of testing for that, it doesn't seem all that helpful. One of the prime signs is losing your appetite. I know I have had times when I have not at all been interested in food and eat merely because I need to eat. I think somebody else said it... my life doesn't center around food any more. It is a bit strange and leaves a bit of a void for me not to be thinking about food so much (planning the next meal, snack, treat, etc). Guest guest
Yeah..I can't/don't....cook so my choices are slim. I can just as easily go thru a day without eating because I'm so apathetic about food now. Not having an appetite makes it even worse. I use to LOVE to eat out..it was my LIFE..so now food is just blah. All I can eat are nude hamburgers and hot wings....and I'm so sick of them I gag even thinking about it. If you figure out something to inspire one to eat...share! I had two hard boiled eggs and a pickle today..oh and 4 diet pepsi's and some SF tang. I'd rather drink than eat. Guest guest
Laurie, eating like that just isn't healthy - you need veggies! I hope you are also drinking lots of water. No diet, Atkins included, is healthy if you do it to extremes. And only eating 2 hard-boiled eggs and a pickle for the day isn't doing Atkins properly. It is counter-productive to eat that little - your body is going to think there is some kind of famine going on and your metabolism will slow right down to conserve energy. Now as far as eating out goes, how about a chicken ceasar salad (hold the croutons, make sure the chicken isn't breaded or floured)? I go to Swiss Calet and get the half chicken dinner with dipping sauce and veggies (hold the roll) and it comes out to about 12 carbs for the meal. Go to Subway and get a salad (basically shredded lettuce topped with your favourite sub innards). Most places will substitute a salad of hot veggies for the fries that are generally offered. Just quiz the server on ingredients in sauces - a fake allergy to wheat and/or a claim of diabetes can help make sure that they truly investigate what's in the sauce rather than just placate you - nobody wants somebody falling over on the floor of their restaurant! If you aren't much of a cook, at least buy some salad stuff - bagged salad is a good and easy base, then buy some of your favourite low carb veggies to top it with. What about making some chicken, egg, or tuna salad and having a scoop of it on a plate of salad veggies - it doesn't get much easier than that and you'll actually be getting some nutrtion! Have you looked at the Turtles menus (link at the bottom of each email) - they are a really good example of what a day of doing Atkins properly should look like. Don't sabotage yourself by not following Atkins as it is meant to be. Kirstie

Guest guest
As usual, there have been some GREAT answers!!! One of those -Forman-type grills is great too. We love steaks, pork chops, chicken breasts or any kind of meat cooked on it. It's very easy... you can uses spices or not. Even my husband (who doesn't cook) likes to use it. If you buy a ham, someone in the meat dept will usually slice it for you. (Of course, you have to find a ham with no sugar in it!) Then freeze it in several batches. Thaw it out one batch at a time as you use it. Very easy to cook.. we just put a little sugar-free cherry syrup in a skillet and throw some slices of the ham in. (My husband is not low-carbing, his idea of a diet is to cut back on the pudding.) Watch out for the seasoning salts... I've noticed that all the seasoning salts I have seen also have sugar. (Lawry's seasoning salt says " Salt, sugar, " etc in their list of ingredients. The salt-free seasonings are usually better about that, but you have to read the label to make sure. Guest guest
I am on day 25 and I'm definitely not sick of it. Maybe try new kinds or new cuts of meat? between tuna, beef, chicken, lamb, pork, and other fish (uncanned) - I get a pretty good assortment. Try a sashimi lunch for a celebration. try a new kind of fish SLATHERED with butter and a touch of lemon. marinate a meat in different broth flavours, or try a new recipe. You can also try new veggies and stuff. Eggplant is pretty low and mixed with a little curry and sour cream is sooo good. try cooking with turnips Check out your local asian market if you have one for things like duck wings. roast yourself a cornish hen read www.atkinsfriends.com and www.lowcarbluxury.com I think lowcarbluxury's recipes are lower in carb but a bit fancier. atkinsfriends has really strange stuff like Klingon stew (made with pig's blood! no I haven't tried it but I intend to if I get bored ) You can do it BB, SK --- whirlwindpatrol@... wrote: > > > Does anyone else get sick of the food? Guest guest
, Just exactly how did you do that? I am one of those people that has to know exactly the recipe or I won't try it for fear of failure. Cheryl Ü Then she suggested I make some chocolate atkins rolls and butter cream frosting with splenda. THey were good. I had two the next morning for breakfast. Guest guest
, I have an idea, if you like the atkins rolls why not make them sweeter then use them as a cream puff. and fill them with some pudding and whipped cream. I don't make the atkins rolls. I tried them once but was not to fond of them. Maybe I will try them again sometime. Laverne

Guest guest
I made a jelly roll type of thing with an Atkins Roll recipe. It turned out great. I just made a batch of Atkins Rolls, sweetened them a bit more than usual, plus added some vanilla and cinnamon. Spread into a sheet cake pan that had been lined with greased parchment paper, and then bake. When done, remove from the pan and roll up in a towel (put it between two sheets of parchment or waxed paper first) as you would a regular jelly roll cake, and let it cool. For the filling, I used 1 package of SF pudding, plus cream cheese and cream and water to get the consistency that was mousse-like and spreadable. Unroll the " cake " , spread on the filling, and re-roll. I then sprinkled the top with cocoa powder. Delicious and moist! Terry
