Guest guest
Kathy it sure sounds liek ytou need the HC still. And you definitely need mroe Armoru. I remwmeber when I was on 6 grains Armoru and 60mcg T3 and had to stop in the middle of washing my hair or climbiong the stepo in to my house. ALL of that was from adrenal fatigue. Once treated I won't say I am runnign up the steps now, but I do a pretty good clip and igf I have 4 loads of grocveries to bringup the steps I do not have to do it in four days like I used to! -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Hi Val, Thanks for the reply - I appreciate it. I need a specific direction to go in. I'm still on HC - 10 mg in AM only. Do I go back to 10-5- 5? At a stage 7 should I move up higher? What is you suggestion. Please note that I don't hold you responsible for my health - I'm in charge of that - even when I do a poor job of it. I just need to know where I go from here. Back to 10-5-5 right away or build up again? email me privately if needed. roesslk at yahoo or hotmail. Your knowledge has always been appreciated and it has gotten me farther than I would have gone otherwise. Thanks, Kathy in NJ > > Kathy it sure sounds liek ytou need the HC still. Guest guest
I would go back to 10-7.5-5-2.5 and hold that while doing a temperature graph. Guest guest
Kathy, Are you taking meds for the acid reflux? If so what kind and how long? Also are you taking any kind of B vitamins? It's really important to take some type of greens supplement for B's to support the adrenals. How about enzymes? Linn > Hi All, > > Been awhile since I've written. Kathy in NJ here. Guest guest
Hi Linn - nothing for the acid reflux - just Tums when I need to. I take B complex vitamins and enzymes every day. I have a very strong vitamin regimen - I think I just screwed up with the HC and need to get back on a regular dose until I feel better. Thanks so much for your help. Guest guest
For Reflux I take baking soda when needed! It is safe, helps the adrenals and relieves the pain immediately. Just dissolve 1/2 - 1 tsp in a glass (6 oz) water and chug it down. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Your story sounds so much like mine and I am a guy I get crap from my wife to the point I don't talk about my heath. If I were you I would go back on HC and do more say 10mgs. 10mgs. and 5mgs. see how this goes. I would start to take my Temps and chart them this tells you were your at. http://www.drrind.com/tempgraph.asp#directions I use this to take my temps they sell it at Wal-Greens or Wal-Mart. http://www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.com/Products/Thermometer.htm Doing this will help you to know when to go up on Armour and were your Adreals are at. If you have trouble just post and ask. I feel if you get back on HC being stage 7 you need it you should feel better fast. Some people don't understand when one is Sick like we are yet it they hurt there toe they go on about it all day long. Phil roesslk wrote: Hi All, Been awhile since I've written. Kathy in NJ here. I also posted on the main NTH board because I'm not sure where the post belongs. My apologies for double posting. So, back in September I took the leap to start on HC. Adrenals on saliva testing showed failure at a stage 7. I worked my way up to 20 mg (10-5-5) and worked my way up on Armour to to 4 grains taken 2.5 in am, 1 grain 4 hours later and then .5 grains 3 hours after that. I can't take high doses later in the day because I can't sleep, thus, higher doses in the AM. At that point in time when I was at 4 grains (November) I had labs done and the TSH was supressed, which is good and the frees were in the mid range. I saw my endo and after we talked he agreed that perhaps I was one who would do better in the higher range of the frees. Cool. He agreed to prescrive the higher dose. I went up to 4.25 grains and still felt tired. At the same time, and I think this was stupid, I started to decrease the HC. Endo did not prescribe it and knows nothing about it. I was scared of it to begin with but it did help me with the raises so I stuck with it. I am still at 4.25 grains and am only taking 10 mg of HC in the morning with no other doses throughout the day. No shakes or anything going on. My problem is that I am so damn tired - have iron and ferritin issues too and last labs showed ferritin increased to 52 but the iron was still low. Endo even asked if I had a family history of poor iron absorption. I take the iron with vitamin C, by the way. I have horrible reflux too so I think that it's not the iron but my darn body running too slow to process the food. Today I didn't eat all day due to the bloat I feel from the holiday meals, which isn't like me - I normally eat something but I'm depressed I think or just worn out from too much sugars. So, the holidays have been here and I've ben running around but the thing is, I was running around all the time before that and I'm not someone who is a yelling stress person, I'm someone who is wiped out. Tonight I went out with my husband for dinner. At dinner I started talking about the fact that it would be fun to look at places to retire to (we're only 50 and 48 (me)) and he said to me " well, I can't even get you to get up and walk the dogs, what difference would it make whether we retire to a warm or cold climate? you don't want to do anything anyway. " I started to cry in the restaurant and had to leave. I went to the parking lot and sobbed for quite some time. Granted, not cool what he said and extremely insensitive but it's true - I don't want to walk the dogs - I want to veg in front of the TV once I do the grueling chores in the house. The truth hurts but let me tell ya' I did not tell him he was right - I fought with the strength I had left to tell him that I'm tired and he contributes zip to the daily household grind. Guys, my muscles hurt (left hip and quads especially) and I know that I'm not well but I'm so scared at the same time. My question is NOT " does it get any better " because, truly I am better than I was a year ago. The question is - do I get back on the HC full time again and continue with raises? Problem I did experience after my 2.5 in the AM is when walking up stairs I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack but I attributed it to my weight (5'4 " , 185 lbs.). I am not having any problems going to sleep but some times I wake up at around 3AM and my mind won't stop but I am in pre-menopause (tests proved low pregesterone and I'm on p- cream) and I know some women experience the same thing who don't have thyroid issues. Anyway, I could really use some help and direction here. I'm crying as I write this because I have a feeling I was my own worst enemy, again, by not doing what was suggestesd. So, do I go back on HC? Raise Armour without HC? Ugh - I'm definitely not well and any suggestions would be appreciated. Logically, I think I need to get back on HC at a 10-5-5 and continue raises but feel frightened and confused emotionally. Thanks to anyone who has some insight. Guest guest
Hi Phil, Thanks for the support. I have been at this for about 4 years now and just as I " think " I'm doing ok I take several steps back. Truth is that most of the time it is due to my own doing. First, it was fear of Armour, then it was fear of HC, then it was fear of too much Armour, then back to fear of HC. Ugh. I started back today at 10mg HC on the AM and 5mg HC 4 hours later. Am feeling wiped out right now but don't think I should add HC back in too fast. I have a feeling I'm going to have to stay on HC awhile and just might be one of those people who need large amounts of Armour, probably due to the Hashi's I have. I took my HC and Armour (2.5 grains) together this morning at 7:30 am and felt ok. Around 11:oo I felt tired but waited to do 5mg HC at 11:30. At noon I took my second dose (1.5 grains) of Armour and right now I'm wiped. I need to take my last dose of Armour but, what do you think, should I just jump right back in with the HC or titer up as instructed on the STTM page? Am also familiar with taking temps but I get lax at doing it and stop - another form of self sabotage I think :-) Kathy in NJ > > Your story sounds so much like mine and I am a guy I get crap from my wife to the point I don't talk about my heath. Guest guest
How long were you off, or reduced dose? If over 2 weeks it is still a good idea to move slowly in case thyroid has built up. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Hi - been at 10mg in AM only for two weeks - started decreasing from 20mg in early November. I did a 10 - 5 today and don't feel any better - I think I need to up my Armour dose, I can just feel it in the depressed way I feel both physically and mentally. I will stick with the 10-5 HC I guess and increase the Armour .25 grain. I am so confused again - my own doing, I know. Will do 2.75 grains in AM and 2 in PM. Will hold Armour dose until end of January while slowly increasing HC back to 20 or 25 mgs. Kathy in NJ > > How long were you off, or reduced dose? Guest guest
Oh I would increase the HC before adding in more Armoru. If your adrenals are still struggling which I feel certain they are, the additional thyroid will not do you any good and will just cause MORE adrenal stress. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Yes jump back in you will feel better I don't think you will have a problem because you were up on this and ok. I think we go on HC slow so we don't get a Thyroid dump and this feels like hell. When you find you self at wits end about a med find a good book about it and this puts you mind at ease. Here are some links to Dr. Jefferies book and Safe us of Cortisol. http://members.aol.com/jefferiesw/ And here is where I got the book. http://www.ccthomas.com/details.cfm?P_ISBN=039807500X My wife has Hashi's but will not take HC becasue a dum Dr. told her any amout of it will shut her down. I was there and asked this Dr. are you sure I just read Dr. Jefferies Book on this and he was involved in the discovery of Cortisol. The Dr. just gave me a look. More and more Dr.'s are comming around to the fact it is best to treat Adrenal problems with HC. When I first asked my Dr. he told me what my wifes Dr. said it will shut you down meaning your pituitary will not send the messages to your Adrenals to make more cortisol. He now after my showing him my book gives me Cortef. Yet still my wife will not take it. She has been sick a dam long time on Synthroid for yrs. her cortisol levels are very low like stage 6 you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it. I feel you can go up today what Val told you to do and you will feel much better. Then do your temps and when your avg. is not up and down start upping the Armour. Any time I say something like " I am hurting today " he says " I'll trade you " and demeans it, so I mostly don't say much. Guest guest
ok - thanks - will do the 10-5-5 today which is what I was at in November. Question - you mentioned doing 10-10-5 - should I be taking more than 20mg of Cortef? As for the book, yes, I have it - got it quite some time ago but don't have the brain function to read it. I'm able to work and do a good job but some things, like reading, I just can't do because I can't comprehend. What scares me about Cortef is if something were to happen and I needed surgery or something. I'm afraid something would go wrong. Also - what would a thyroid dump feel like? I've read about it but can't recall - do you get shaky and sweat? My problem has been this never ending fatigue all week - I fell asleep on the sofa at 5PM yesterday and didn't wake up until 7:30am this morning. BIG indicator of too low Armour dosage or could that also be an adrenal issue? Also, I'm sorry that your wife has Hashi's and isn't doing well. Dealing with this stuff is a real pain. Guest guest
from Kathy in NJ: >I took my HC and Armour (2.5 grains) together this morning at 7:30 >am and felt ok. Around 11:oo I felt tired but waited to do 5mg HC >at 11:30. At noon I took my second dose (1.5 grains) of Armour and >right now I'm wiped. Hi Kathy, Maybe 4 hour dosing on the armour is too much for you right now....I take my armour 6-8 hours apart and I don't get wiped out or the jitters. I don't know how others dose their armour??? Just my 2 cents, Dahlia
