Dear Vineeta and friends,

We should not take all such declarations very seriously.

To me these are all hype and self declared prophecies but we know the reality

and what happens on grounds. We have seen in past and same is this?

NACO and Govt. of India have been making lot of declarations with global health,

WHO, Bill Gates and the list goes on. They got and probably wasted millions of

dollars. Possibly millions might have been pocketed even by politicians and

corrupt bureaucrats as well some of the corrupt NGOs, but people working on

grounds are always agonised seeing HIV positive people living with stigma or in

isolation and die with HIV/ AIDS for lack of resources, not able to perform

tests or give medicines as per our own experiences.

For last three years we have tried whatever we could in this field to raise

awareness, have been running skeleton services through a centre for counselling

and ARV drugs with a hospice for children with HIV in Gwalior details on

www.helpchildrenofindia.org but our requests for any funds fell on deaf ears.

Our requests for information and guidance to get tests for cheaper costs or ARV

drugs for free remain un-answered by NACO or Govt. offices or its agencies. I

keep seeing similar reports coming on this forum from many other people and

organisations.

Recently when we needed second line of ARV drugs for our angel Radha, we could

get these with great difficulties at a cost of nearly $150 per month in spite of

all this hype and could not get any support from any of these organisations.

I wonder where all these millions are being spent and why majority of HIV

positive people continue to suffer and die in spite of all such funding being

made available as being declared by various foundations, organisations, people

like Bill Gates and Mr. Clinton and Governments.

Is it real? Not, definitely as we know or have been seeing and I am sure there

will be many more of those individuals and NGOs with similar experiences, who

are working on floor rather than making such declarations sitting in their posh

offices.

With best wishes,

Dr.B.K.Sharma,
