Glucophage I forgot to post yesterday something I learned from my post-op nurse, who turned out to be a CDE. (Good for me, because she understood that it was important to me to get tested post op and gave me appropriate drink and snacks) She asked when I take my glucophage, and I said at dinner time. She said WHEN at dinner time, and I said at the end of the meal. She told me to take it with the first bite, and it would prevent the meal from peaking as high. I didn't know that. I just thought when they said take it with a meal that they wanted my belly full. Anyway, in case anyone else didn't know this, I wanted to pass it on. I take 2000 per day, 1000 morning, 1000 evening. Also 5 " units " of diabeta. Until recently I took that at 5 pm, but now I am breaking them in half and taking 2.5 at Noon and the other half at 5. I was getting serious lows (40-50) every night about midnite. This seems to have helped a bit. . .now at midnight I'm usually in the mid 60's. Her Dr told her that since the sustained release form would be absorbed better throughout the day, the lower dose was equivalent.
