My Induction

Jenn,

Don't lie to me that way! You are not " slightly " frustrated, you are really

frustrated because you were expecting more than a four pound loss, weren't

you? Come on, fess up, you wanted the 8+ pounds off that seems to be the

norm in the book, right?

If this is your original induction, just stick with it at the same levels

that you have been doing for the past two weeks. You indicated that you

kept going back and forth on those same four pounds eating regularly, which

tells me that you were trying to take off weight, probably by low fat

dieting, prior to starting Atkins. If that is the case you may well be like

I was. I had been doing low fat prior to starting Atkins. I only lost 4

pounds during the first two weeks and I was watching each little carb that

went into my mouth during that time. Well, I was frustrated, but I kept at

it and averaged 10 pounds per month the first 3 months. Now most weight

loss programs say a pound a week is the best rate at which to lose. Why,

who knows. I thought 4 pounds a week sounded like a good rate to me. From

watching this list for nearly two years I can tell you that most people do

not lose at the rates listed in the book. Most of those who do lose at a

faster pace were likely not on any kind of eating plan prior to induction

and the first " fast " pounds for them were likely some water weight. You may

not have had a water weight loss if you were trying to lose prior to Atkins.

Therefore, your four pounds lost were real loss of fat pounds.

I know your frustration, I was there, but I would not cut down to almost no

carbs. I think you will continue lose and be pleasantly surprised if you

just stay at current carb levels. Once you cut back too far you won't have

anywhere else to go if you need to tweak later. Not a good plan, and

sometimes people lose more by increasing carbs slightly.

Actually I wasn't on a weight loss plan before this, I just ate whatever I

wanted. I have been going up and down on the scale from 210 to 205 for the

last two years without any effort on my part. i will keep plugging away

though thanks

Jenn, I don't know how large your burgers or steaks are. I try to

keep my meat to about 3-4 oz per meal. For me, if using your diet,

I would cut down to 2 sausage for breakfast, 1 string cheese for snack,

l burger and about 1 oz of cheese (cheese has carbs) and add a veggie for

dinner. Plus, I think I would add another snack in there somewhere

(maybe 3/4 to 1 oz nuts).

Personally, I can't eat much cheese or cream. It seems to stall

me. If I have cheese, I have it once a day and forgo the cream.

If I have the cream, I forgo the cheese for the day.

Drink lots of water, water, water!!!!

You might want to add some more veggies Jenn. Your menu looks pretty good

to me. What kind of cheese slices are they? How much water are you

drinking? Are you approaching your monthly period?

You might want to follow Terry's turtle menus for a week. She's made a

really good induction level meal plan that is easy to follow and includes

snacks. You may find it helpful :)
