Guest guest Posted May 18, 2006 Report Share Posted May 18, 2006 The Elton AIDS Foundation (EJAF) is seeking to hire a part-time consultant to work alongside the Grants Development Manager and International Development Director in refining a strategy to systematically select high impact projects benefiting those infected, affected or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS in India. In the first instance, EJAF will commission the successful candidate to undertake a review covering: i) assessment of the current environment in India for HIV/AIDS work, within agreed parameters ii) analysis of work funded by the Foundation to date, using defined benchmarks iii) recommendations for appropriate support of effective HIV/AIDS programmes on the ground. This document will form the basis of an evolving country strategy against which future programmes will be sought, researched, monitored and evaluated. The successful candidate will be retained for a set period each year during which he/she will identify programmes for submission to EJAF grant process, undertake field visits and provide reports, and periodically update the environment assessment document. This is a part-time position based in one of the high prevalence states for a minimum of 6 months in every year. Salary is commensurate with experience and local NGO rates. Supervision Parameters for the initial review will be set by the London based International Development Director, in consultation with the Grants Development Manager and Grants Panel. The successful candidate will subsequently agree assignments and timeframe with the Grants Development Manager and submit reports to the International Development Director. Qualifications Knowledge and experience • At least 3 years experience in project management • At least 3 years experience in grant-making/proposal development • At least 5 years experience working in HIV/AIDS programming • Community public health knowledge • Demonstrable ability to approach a problem systematically and strategically • Experience working with government sector and international NGOs • Clinical expertise important but not essential • Good knowledge of beneficiary communities • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS context within neighbouring countries in the region Abilities and skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably one other native language. • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills • Ability to work and manage relationship with diverse program partners • Possess strong interpersonal skills • Be willing to travel within India • A commitment to equality of opportunity for all people regardless of race, class, age, sexual orientation, disability, gender (birth or chosen), religion or background.
