Hi, ...welcome to the list, sorry you had to join us. Well, diabetes is

an extremely complex disease so even though it's understandable that you

thought you Knew It All, it's not so. We're all learning, every day.

As a good start, I suggest you go to the bottom of this page. There are some

links for newbies with good reading suggestions...I strongly suggest you read

the Bernstein and Becker books. They'll answer a lot of your questions.

Then check out the " success stories " ....you'll be inspired. And feel free to

ask any questions here.

What are you doing to control your BGs at this point? Diet only? Meds? Which

ones? What was your A1C on diagnosis? Are you exercising regularly?

There's an excellent lowcarb recipe site connected with Carbsmart...go to

their URL -- I think it's www.carbsmart.com -- and click on lowcarb recipe

exchange. Sign up and you'll get lowcarb recipes every day or so in your

email. Vicki

Hi , and welcome! What kind of numbers are you seeing in your

BG readings? What was your last HgbA1c? What is your current diet?

What meds are you on? Some of us are having good luck with a

moderate carb diet, and others are doing a low carb diet with great

success. It helps to know where you are starting from, and you'll

need to try a few things and test. A common saying in this group is

YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). I'm relatively new to all this, but

have reduced my HgbA1c from 10.7 to 5.2 in four months by taking

control of my diet, exercising, and getting help from this group.

I follow Atkins because I am trying to control my blood sugar with diet and

I have another 40 pounds to lose, lost 40 last year.

People on the list do different things.
