Guest guest Posted December 19, 2006 Report Share Posted December 19, 2006 Population Services International/University of Manitoba Director, Communications Location: Bangalore, University of Manitoba Office Reports to: Chief of Party, ENHANCE KARNTAKA Project Works with:Senior ENHANCE KARNATAKA and NGO staff across Karnataka and PSI staff in Karnataka Supervises: Communication, Training and M & E Managers Context The University of Manitoba has obtained financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to lead a team of organizations to implement a comprehensive (entitled ENHANCE Karnataka) that will provide HIV and AIDS prevention, care, support and treatment to vulnerable and affected populations in 12 high prevalence districts in Karnataka and in four coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh. The University of Manitoba has subcontracted Population Services International (PSI) to develop effective communications strategies for behaviour change and mobilization to services under this project. Purpose Independently lead a team of communications, training and M & E staff to design, implement and monitor a program aimed at providing technical support to selected NGOs in Karnataka to implement evidence based targeted IPC interventions aimed at risk populations. Duties and Responsibilities - Lead the interpretation of communication-relevant research results and dissemination of these interpretations; - Identify key communications research needs and work with research to ensure the research is addressing these needs. - Development of annual communication plans and priorities based on existing foundations, priorities in the field and in response to identified constraints; - Undertake the development of communication briefs for BCC initiatives; - Identify and qualify suppliers of communication and training services to enter into partnership with ENHANCE Karnataka - Design and oversee training of NGOs and BCC/IEC materials production - Ensure high quality implementation of communication activities, including the effective interpretation and delivery of core program messages, the implementation at adequate scale for overall impact and monitoring suitable for evidence-based decision-making; - Collaborate with the project leadership team to support implementation of an agreed set of BCC activities at state level; and - Contribute actively to the overall project strategy Key Qualifications: - Strong background in the design and implementation on targeted evidence based interpersonal communication programs in HIV/AIDS - Significant knowledge of monitoring and evaluation of BCC programs - Prior experience in organizing training programs required - Demonstrated leadership and management of teams Interested candidates may please submit their CV to <priyanka@...> or contact us at: 09820289155 Compensation would be commensurate with experience.
