Guest guest
Dear Forum Recently, I have seen too many deaths of PLHAs who are on ARV for a few months. My experience is from Guntur District. Some say that a few possible reasons are that they have been started on ARV a little too late. Some say its malnutrition that kills them. Many become intractably anemic and die despite treatment. To get Govt. hospitals to do CD4 testing in order to commence ARV itself is difficult, and there is no question of repeaing the count to see how the patient is responding to therapy. How do we, NGOs go on providing medical care for PLHAs in stage 3 or 4? Is the particular brand of drugs, the problem? I would like to hear the experience of others please.
