I'm sorry, I just have to point out that this statement is simply not true. In fact, the Core plan revolves around eating "to satisfaction" from food choices ranging from lean meats, fat free dairy, fruits and vegetables and whole grains with NO calorie or "point" counting until you choose to have something that is not on the Core foods list. WW did not work for me because of what goes on in my head, not because it is a bad plan, nutritionally speaking.

I was having a lot of trouble with Weight Watchers lately. You only get about 900-1200 calories a day at my weight.

Actually this point is not totally false. On the flex plan it depends on your weight on how many points you are able to eat. You can be anywhere from a low of 18 all the way up to about 30+ points I believe. One of the WW leaders said that every point is about 50 calories more or less, so it is quite true that you can be eating this much food though you have an extra 35 points additional points to use per week and more if you exercise. The core plan is very restrictive. You can only eat foods that are on the core list. I did it for a month. I couldn't take it. Not all fat free foods qualify as core either. Talk about carb cravings. Everyone eats differently though so you probably was able to do this easily. I was going bonkers on that plan. At least with the flex I could decide what I wanted to eat. allie

You are right about the core plan, but the points plan still has

anyone under 150 pounds at 20 points per day, which (depending on

fiber, fat, etc.) is roughly 1000-1200. They do of course give you

the weekly points that you can use, or not use, so you " can " eat more

than that per day, but she is not strictly wrong in her statement.

Also whole grain bread and brown rice are only during eating at that one meal. If you eat it more than at that one meal then you would have to count the points. allie

Oooh - did they change that? When I was doing it, there was no bread

on the core plan at all. Brown rice, as you said, was limited to once

a day, as was whole wheat pasta.

I, too, found it too restrictive, and I was amazed at the arguments

people got into about what was " core " and what was not on the WW website.

You know what you are probably right about the bread, it probably was not included at all. Much too complex. Too much effort to fight about what is core and what is not. The worst was when you had a recipe and then you try to break it down to find out if you had all core ingredients to see if you had to count it!--Whew! allie

Ahhhhh.....to be free of Weight Watchers! I " thought " that program

was the right one for me -- for years -- but, I'd lose and gain back,

lose and gain back. The craziness of counting the points and

then " cheating " and using up most of my weekly points in one day and

then being a failure. Or, starving myself the day before weigh in

and being nutty about wearing the exact same outfit every week so

that the clothing wouldn't skew my numbers on the scale. It was

maddening the core plan -- for me anyways.

I have been waking up SOOOO happy every morning, not stressed, not

down on myself now that I know there is this NO DIET mentality. I

just cannot even describe it. To be normal -- what a feeling!!!

Me too! WW made me CRAZY with guilt, and obsessed with food and

exercise! I'd work out like mad just to earn extra points, and obsess

all day. Then I did Craig by phone and ended up LYING to my

consultant when the scale didn't budge. The sad part is, this was all

just over a year ago. Since then I've gained 14 pounds and would LOVE

to be at the weight I was at a year ago!

The thing I never got about the WW Core plan is that they say to watch

your sugar intake, but then list all these foods (like fat-free salad

dressings) that are LOADED with sugar!

I KNOW!! I totally agree with you about the WW and the whole core

contradiction with sugar etc. It really was maddening. I'd beat

myself up so badly after the weigh-ins. It was a sick game. If I

did well (especially when i did REALLY well at the scale, like a 3 or

4 pound loss), where would I go immediately after the meeting???

Mc's or the drug store and stock up on junk and just gorge

myself. I figured, I've got a week to " catch up " for another loss at

the scale. It was sick.

I TOTALLY did the same thing this past month with my Overeaters

Anonymous sponsor -- I totally was LYING to her about my daily food

choices. I was supposed to be cutting out sugar and flour etc. I

was pretty much all out eating regular foods but LYING to her about

what I was eating. I was so ashamed. THAT is when I knew SOMETHING

was wrong. SOMETHING had to change. I remember having this thought

come to my head while I was in the shower last week (it was weird)

and all it was...was " eat normal, still lose weight " or something

like that. It was very weird. But, as soon as I got out of the

shower, I " googled " those words online. Lo and behold, the whole IE

concept pops up and here we are!

I am SOOOOOOOOOO relieved I found this!! Buh Bye WW!!!

I absolutely love this....the " drug store " . Bwhahahahahahaha

I dont think it would matter for me what it was. It was the fact I

wasnt hungry and I was eating. I can binge on just about anything, even

lettuce!!! Its important for me to remember that. If I label

Mcs bad then I need to stop typing and go get some NOW.

ACK! When I was on core, I would binge on sugar free instant pudding.

It tasted AWFUL, and I would eat and eat and eat it, thinking there

must be something wrong with my tastebuds because it was so bad, but I

was allowed to eat it, so I had better do it!

How sad. I tried it recently, and I still think it is awful, but this

time, I took one bite and stopped eating. :-)

Yeah, it's nuts to spend all that time and energy and eat all that other

stuff to avoid what you really wanted all along. W/ IE I have it and

move on. No more guilt, no more eating a thousand pale imitations to

avoid one really good item. Life's too short to eat crappy food. :)
