I have manually pared my cookie file periodically for years but now that I

have a new computer with Windows XP, I can't even find the cookie jar

!?! Do you happen to know where XP hides the cookie file? Nope, it's not

just laying around fairly visible in the Windows directory as it was in

Win95 and Win98 :-(

I'm not but I can help...had a similar problem myself and had to go

look it up in one of Comp USA'a books ;-)

To do anything like this you have to be logged in as the primary

user....then when you go into windows explorer make sure you are in the

section of the c drive that is for " all users " . I can't look at this and

tell you specifically because I no longer have XP on here...after last

weekends crash my Husband loaded ME back on here.....but it is somewhere

that is named something like all usere...hope this helps!

Start > Find > files or folders > type in: cookie and click the find now

button. It should show up with a folder symbol. I have AdSubtract (.com),

which lets me choose which to keep and which to automatically delete. It

also deletes my temporary interent files whenever I want. Makes life much

simpler.

Hi Sandy -

This one might surprise you. Windows XP doesn't hide the cookie file;

it leaves it in plain sight. It is on whatever your main drive is, in

Documents and Settings -> Your Name -> Cookies. It is a folder full of

cookies.

Hi, ...I had a little time today so I tried to do the below

maintenance. Ran into problems immediately. I have an icon for Internet

Explorer on my desktop. Is this what you mean for the first instruction. ?

Because if I click on that, there's nothing that says " C " . what I get is an

Alta Vista screen with multiple choices but nothing that says C. Do you mean

C drive?

No, that's not what she means. First go to WINDOWS EXPLORER which should be

in your start up menu or as an icon. If not go to MY COMPUTER and click on

" C " . . .this will bring up the contents of your hard drive, then continue

from there.
